You would think that people would know him. But look at how many still cling to the whole "he is Muslim - gonna sell us to the terrorists" thing.

I just feel like we (the people of the US) will be making a mistake if he is elected this go around. I really do not see him being very effectual in office at all.

My dream ticket is still Clinton/Obama. I think that will give him the experience he needs to bring his plans for change to reality. She can help him do that.

Not to mention 8 years for her, 8 years for him - 16 years for us!!!

Yes there are many and I still get the spam on that and refer them to snopes.com to show that he is not...my sister is one that will not because of that spam....she also wont just for the fact that he is black.

But as you can see many already are aware of his childhood and that issue and it does not seem to make a difference to either partys so I think for the most part that is over...

I also think that the one thing that McCain /they will work on is his lack of experience if he gets the nod and McCain's experience.

I have no doubt that we will have a Dem in office unless Obama does not get the nod and those Dems get pissed off and decide not to vote for Hillary...either way alot of his followers will back away.

Barach will have to have some of his great speeches to have them rally around Hillary. If he does they will. If he does not than they will not....it will all be up to him to bring the ones that don't want Hillary to her.......

Hmmm. I can't see it. Would be nice though.

Yes either Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton....the Dream ticket would be great....

I think we will start seeing some mud slinging from both parties...nothing bad just a little testy because it is soooo close. They should come to an agreement ...if they have not already.

wow there are so many threads out on the DIS I cant keep up with them all:rotfl2:

Found this on the Rasmussin report...but Obama is still favored to win against Hillary when it comes to McCain...

Ohio Dem Primary:
Clinton 51%
Obama 37%

Wisconsin Dem Primary:
Obama 47%
Clinton 43%

just in...

Hillary has been named WINNER of the New Mexico Caucus...YAY :woohoo: :woohoo:

she is still in trouble however and she needs to win the next few states....

Not to be negative on such a positive thread ( ;) ), but if you think a Hillary candidacy is likely to prevent scandal on the Democratic side....

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/02/14/mark-penn-tied-to-controv_n_86722.html

Also...the New Mexico caucus was what...9 days ago? :teeth: All that waiting for a net +2 delegates? :confused3

no but he gets 12 she get 14.....and why is it that every time you post it is neg about something or other....

If you look below I put that she is in trouble....but she still won it....

you came in here to be neg because you always are and I have yet to hear you say anything positive...you are a political debater that only seems to like to post the neg instead of any pos when it comes to candidates...mostly Hillary. Try to see your class half full instead of half empty and please refrain from sarcastic remarks like below...you can make your point without them :thumbsup2 Thank you

Umm...That wasn't sarcastic, it was a simple statement of fact. There were pages of posts talking about how "all of Hillary's scandals are out there", and I was simply pointing out that no, in fact, there are always more where those came from.

Yes, the "net +2" comment was a bit of a dig, but it was pretty mild considering the slander I've seen directed towards Barack Obama on this thread and on this board. Certainly not anything that I expected to draw that kind of response. :confused3

As far as the "you're nothing but a political debater" comments...I post in plenty of other threads on this board that have nothing to do with politics, and I have posted in any number of political threads in a "positive" manner. Shoot, the "Positive Barack Obama" thread is practically a party. :teeth: The liberal thread used to be like that, where we could discuss issues without it becoming a "debate". That has recently changed...so maybe you can tell me why that is, when I've been on that thread since the inception of the first one?

You don't discuss unless it is neg though....and for the mot part the only slander about Obama here that I have read was that we want to hear more substance out of his mouth to our ears and not having to read a book to get it.

It is plan you HATE Hillary and you Love Obama and that is fine.....I started this thread so to not go into the Liberal thread and post all about Hillary as you and a few have about Obama....

I cant stop you from coming in here and being so NEG, and I will not ask you to either but if you come here please refrain from the sarcasm....

We as Hillary supporters are aware of her short comings and that she is down in the polls...

and as for All the Obama threads if you look closely they are for the most part asking the same questions that many are and if you watch the news they have even asked the same questions and today said that because this is a commonly asked question he is going to start to explain....so I say explain away and i will listen

And by the way if you have not noticed I am on your side

So that is how I roll !!!!!!

Was that plain from the 463 times I've said I'll vote for her in the general election? Or from the 326 times I've pointed out that there is little difference between she and Barack when it comes to the issues? :confused3

As for my "negativity"...how is anything I've posted any different than the comments about Barack's "experience problems" or the misstatements about his lack of substance?

I pointed out on the Liberal thread. You win. You can have it as a place to have everyone agree about all things. That, to me, isn't what "liberal" stands for, and it's not what that thread ever was before very recently.

Again, I have been reading this thread because I fully plan on supporting Hillary if she is the party nominee. I had no intention of coming in here and slamming her, nor do I think I have done so.

Yes, and I'm answering them - when I see them - the same way I have here and everywhere else. The information is there, and I see no reason why it needs to be spoon-fed to everyone. Yes, Barack is changing his speeches to accomodate those that can't be bothered to put forth a minimal amount of effort. But that doesn't change the fact that all of this is already easily available.

As for being on the same side...when I come out and attack a Hillary supporter directly and all Hillary supporters in a general way, I'll agree that we're in the same boat. Until then, I have to disagree.

I saw Bill Clinton speak at the University of Wisconsin today. The boy still has it :cool1:! He has quite the silver tongue, but I forgot how LONG WINDED he can be. Still, he was great :lovestruc. He spoke for 75-90 minutes and covered a lot of Hillary's views on things.

Bill was at the UW Stock Pavilion where the livestock shows are held on campus. There are pigs in the basement, sawdust on the floor and the place STINKS. It was not a very presidential place and I hope they get a better venue for Hillary. There were between 1,000 and 2,000 people there.

Anyway ... here are some pictures. I took them with my DD's camera which is not good indoors. Sorry for the blurry pictures.

And here are some crowd shots while he was shaking hands. I tried to go down to see him and he ended up shaking the hands of the people around me. *sigh* So, I missed out shaking his hand.

In all, a great speech and it did it's job. I am now officially on the fence. Gotta dig up a Clinton thing-y for my signature. At least until next Wednesday, LOL!

This offended me on the other thread and it still offends me here. Spoonfeeding is something an adult does for a baby. I am not a child. I'm educated. I'm 47 years old - I suspect I'm older than you. I've been a life-long Democrat and Harry Truman is my cousin. My family regulary spoke of politics, since I was a child. We're liberals through and through. I do not need to be spoon-fed anything. I promise you, I do my homework. Don't come here and put me down. It makes me almost not want to vote for your candidate when right now I have every intention of voting for him if he beats Hillary. I just don't see why some of you insist on trying to be hurtful when we are on the same team?

I have read the information on his website and I've talked at length with my DS who has been an intern for Obama. Like I said, I do my homework before I vote. There is a difference between being too lazy to read the information yourself and wanting to hear a candidate for president talk about his issues. I'd like to hear him own the issues before he gets my vote. If you don't want/need that - that's fine with me. I'm not cutting you down because you're happy voting for him. But don't belittle me. In my honest opinion, THAT is being childish.

And by the way, I can be part of a friendly debate anytime. I can see Hillary's faults. All the candidates are politicians. I have news for you...none of them are perfect. I just don't like to be cut down and have ugly things thrown my way. Please take your mudslinging somewhere else and let us stay positive here. As my mother would say, if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all.

Stepping down from my soapbox.

Robin, I'm glad you had a good time. Did you take your DD? He makes you think, doesn't he? You can't deny the man has charisma.

As someone that also finds that "spoonfeeding" comment really offensive thank you!

There is a huge difference between reading someone's words on paper and hearing them speak with authority and ownership of their beliefs. Knowing that they can articulate these beliefs under pressure is also important.

It's not just a handfull of us here on DIS that have this issue with Obama. It's something that's becoming an issue for a lot of people nationally. Therefore it's an issue for Obama.

One of the reason's this is an issue for me is that if he wins the nom, Obama is going to have to debate McCain. In that scenario, he's going to have to be able to clearly define the differences between himself and McCain and he's going to have sell his policy in very specific terms. I really didn't see that from him in the debates. To me, Hillary is a much stronger debater.

I know that a lot of people think that McCain can beat Hillary. But personally I think Hillary will be better able to turn that around in the debates with McCain. I think she'll chew him up and spit him out. I'm not so confident that Obama can do the same.

I hope I wasn't offensive in my reply. It's not my intention. I'm not a confrontational person at all. I just get my dander up when someone seems to be saying things that seem ill-tempered and hurtful.

Can we please all just try to get along? I keep trying to find a political thread where I can post without feeling like I want to unsubscribe. But all of them seem to eventually turn nasty in one way or the other.

What's the mood in WI? I think Hillary could use a minor upset here. I think Obama is up by 4.

Currently she is leading both PA and OH which is hopeful.

That is an excellent point. Obama is going to have to articulate this policy differences against McCain. McCain will most certainly emphasize his ample experience - especially in the area of National Security. And debating is not Obama's strong suit - I think Hillary took him on most every debate (at least on substance).

We Dems do have the advantage that a majority of the country is disillusioned with the Bush "Doctrine" - but if Obama comes up short here (IF he is the nominee) against McCain, those independents and republicans supporting him now, could change their votes.

She was up by 9 in the latest poll. 51-42

(backing away from the thread ;) )

ETA: Woops just saw on RCP.com that he has a 4 point lead.
