Hijinks & Shenanigans but not much Mayhem@The Dark Side+Disney:Link to DL/Hawaii TR

Continued from previous post

The only attraction of interest to us in Woody Woodpeckers Kid Zone is E.T. Adventure.

Hop aboard a starbound bike and help E.T. save his dying planet. This ride reminds me of Peter Pans Flight, as you fly over a city and then end up on E.T.s planet, surrounded by some strange creatures.

The queue for this ride is pretty neat. It is a forest, a lot like the Endor queue for Star Tours, but it is inside and dark. Right before you ride, you give your name to a team member who programs it in so at the end of the ride, E.T. can say goodbye to you by name.

Of course, my family couldnt pass up an opportunity for a few hijinks! Mark said his name was Sam, I used Alex, Ben picked Omar and Nate claimed to be Jerome

"Jerome, Phone Home!"

Is E.T. giving us a sign showing how he feels about us giving the wrong names???

I think this ride may be part of the Photo Connect program, but I didn't get a ride photo here. I have read since returning from the trip that there are a couple of photo ops you can do at E.T. A picture of your family on the bikes, with E.T. in the front basket and one with E.T. hiding in the closet with the other toys.

While we were in the E.T. attraction, an intense rain storm must have gone through. The sidewalks had puddles of water.

This is what it had looked like earlier that day:

Then, after we exited E.T. the skies looked like this!

Fortunately, we dodged the rain most of our first day, but we wouldn't be as lucky later in the week.

Next up: Dont Have a Cow, Man! Were headed to Springfield

.

We really enjoyed the Horror make up show, it was interesting and really funny.
ET is one of my favourite rides at Universal. It's really well done and ET is so adorable!

But did you use your real names? Next time, you should say you are "Teekathepony"

:lmao:

The boys were surprisingly cooperative about ET- kind of like they are for Peter Pan. They know Mark and I really like them, so they tolerated the diversion from some of the "cooler" rides.

I would like to see the makeup show again.

OMG. Yes, I've always used my real name, but next time my name is Teeka for sure! Hahaha now I wish I was going to Universal this year just to do that...

Your pictures of ET sure brought back memories. We took Caitlin on that when she was 2 and she was terrified :scared1: She started getting scared and crying in the queue and people just kept telling us to go ahead of them til we were on the ride. Well one look at ET and she completely freaked! To this day she believes ET is a horror movie :rotfl2:

Glad you missed the rain that day! Thanks for the update :)

I'm actually surprised that I have only seen the Make-up show once. It really is good. I remember this specifically because at one point (in a very joking way I must add) the host was acting rude (I can't remember the specifics though) and then said "Hey I don't have to be nice... This ain't Disney!" I'll never forget that.

That is hilarious!!! Now. I'm sure at the time it was a bit troublesome. I can see that though- E.T. is not the handsomest alien I have ever seen.

So has she not watched the movie???

Yes, we were lucky with weather that day- it sprinkled a little as we walked to Islands of Adventure, but I consider that fortunate considering how scary the sky looked.

Oh, yeah, the guy who drove us to the Hard Rock from the airport had told us a tropical storm was expected to hit that afternoon. I think it was Dorian.

:scared1:

Awesome pics! :goodvibes

Thanks so much!

:)

I believe they are STILL using that line! And it still gets laughs! :lmao:

They had a lot of topical stuff, too- Kardashians, President Obama

Thats funny that you guys changed your names

We amuse ourselves!

:rotfl2:

The horror show sounds really neat. ET is a great ride. We haven't been to Universal in more than a decade. When my girls get older, we will definitely have to try it, although I am not sure they will ever want to see the Horror Makeup Show. Glad you missed the rain this day.

:rotfl2:Ha we love ET too and we always change our names :rotfl2:
Obviously we are twins separated at birth (oh except you are way more organised at photo-taking than me:lmao:).
Sounds like the make up show was worth the visit. Haven't ever done that!

Lots of changes at Universal since your last trip! I do believe the parks are much better suited for older kids. There are some things for the little ones, but it is not really worth it if you aren't going to be able to do some of the more extreme thrill rides.

There was a little bit of blood and gore in the Horror Makeup Show, so if that bothers the girls, you should skip it. I have a preteen and teenaged boy. It was all good!

:lmao:

Have a fantastic trip!!! I look forward to hearing about it!

:goodvibes

Why wouldn't you!!! It is funny how wicked you feel when you lie to one of the team members at E.T. I'm sure they really care!!!

I made it clear to my family that this is one show we were going to see. They normally have no interest in shows when they are at an amusement/theme park. But Ben felt a little guilty that we barely missed the show last time. He thinks it was his fault (it was) so he made sure I got to see it on this trip.

:thumbsup2

That must be why I like E.T. b/c I LOVE Peter Pan!!

We have never made it to the make-up show. We'll have to check it out at some point. How long is it?

I have been to US about 3 times before this last trip and everytime I missed the Horror Make-up Show. But I was so glad that I caught it on this current trip. My DB is a Horror movie fan so he wanted to go but man, it was so funny! I loved that they used current jokes (like the Paula Deen one) even though it went over my kids heads. I thought the 2 ladies were hilarious and I loved how they play off of each other.:rotfl:

That is hilarious that you all used fake names on ET. I swear I missed him saying our names. We didn't hear him say anything! So either I wasn't paying attention or it wasn't working. Oh well, still an oldie but a goodie:thumbsup2

Love ET, that ride just makes me smile! the fake names crack me up.

We really wanted to see the makeup show too and missed the timing, glad you were able to see it.

Wow Dee those are some serious clouds. Heard from our neighbors it was a rainy week in Florida.

That Hollywood area definitely reminds me of DHS's Streets of America. Gotta make a Disney reference since it's all I know. :p

So Jerome still needs to phone home?? How many people say their name is "ET" to hear the original line from the movie?

That's some serious rain clouds! Glad you dodged it for the day... we wouldn't want a repeat of your Epcot experience from the chaperone trip! :)

Yes, E.T. and Peter Pan are alike in many ways- in both you are "flying" above and next to the action/scenes.

The show is probably around 25 minutes. We all enjoyed it.

Yes, the show was really funny! I think we had a Paula Deen reference too, but I don't remember what it was. We had two ladies, too. I don't know if there are others who do the show- I would guess so.

It is really quick at the end when E.T says goodbye. I think sometimes he strings names of your party together "Goodbye Sam-Alex-Omar-Jerome"

:)

We were really way more amused by the name switch than we should have been!

I think it took us 5-6 visits to the Universal park before we actually saw the show- several times on the last trip and a few visits this time.

I'm so glad we did, though!

:thumbsup2

Wow Dee those are some serious clouds. Heard from our neighbors it was a rainy week in Florida.

Those clouds scared me!!! :scared:

Totally looked like major thunderstorm. I was amazed and pleased that the wind blew them in the other direction. We missed a heavy downpour while we were in E.T. We walked in to the show to clouds like that, and when we came out the sidewalks were full of puddles, but it was a little cooler, and no rain!

:cool1:

Yes, the Hollywood area is a lot like the Streets of America, and even more so is the NYC area in the park. I have lots of pictures of that. They have buildings, Central Park, Macy's and a backdrop. The only problem with the backdrop is that part of the track for Rip Ride Rocket juts into the backdrop, totally ruining the effect!

We will eventually encounter rain, but this time, we actually have ponchos!!!

::yes::

Oh boy! I am waaaayyyy behind here Dee!! I think I only read your first (and maybe second) entries! I am hoping to catch up this weekend!!

I never thought about E.T. and Peter Pan being similar. I see your point but I love Peter Pan so much more. I mean I enjoyed E.T. but Peter Pan is a family favorite in my family.
