Now i knew it was going to be hot, but i wasn't ready for the way it seemed to suck the moisture of of my body
Luckily we don't need to rush round the parks anymore so a morning or late afternoon/evening in the parks worked well for us,then we would laze on the Lazy River at SAB:good vibes
HIGHS
PE on Virgin. This was a last minute upgrade and well worth every penny.Id been calling for weeks to upgrade the outbound leg, but they wanted £1200 for the four of us,so when it was offered at £710 at check in we decided to go for it
Our room at the YC was amazing once again. We booked a Garden View but ended up with a room with a partial Lagoon View which was lovely and quiet. We've never been able to fault this resort, rooms were spotless, cleaned on time,we never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a bus.SAB and the new layout of Hurricane Hannahs was excellent.
Illuminations Cruise. This was a surprise for the kids,we had a large boat all to ourselves which was driven by Jason who took us on a tour around the lake and up to HS then we tied up with other boats under the bridge between UK and France to watch Illuminations. The view was spectacular and very special. The last two times we've been its always been DS birthday and poor DD has never had the Birthday Badge so we payed for a cake and balloons for the boat and pretended it was her birthday, which went down very well with her:good vibes
HS seemed to be going the extra mile this time as we encountered lots of character interaction throughout the parks, they just seemed to be randomly everywhere. We even found Green Soldier hiding behind a leaf, just sat on the kerb, somehow people were just walking past him
We got tickets to watch the Frozen singalong and i thought the system worked really well with minimal queuing.I didn't even know that theatre existed. We went into The Writers Stop which we've always managed to overlook, but found this to be a hidden gem within HS,its only small, but sells snacks(carrot cake cookie yum) and lots of books, and most of the Cast Members there look like they've been working there for donkeys years
The food as always was quite overwhelming and we came home without using 7 CS credits. We did six signatures,Jiko was up there as one of the best,California Grill & Yachtsmans were as always faultless with special mention to Oscar who actually remembered our son from 2012 :good vibes Narcoosees is still IMO one of the best places to watch Wishes and the Elaectric Water Pageant. We did Grand Floridain Cafe for the first time and thought the GF burger could quite easily be on any signature menu.
Yeung Ling.Oh i love this beer enough said
We loved the new Fantasy Land and especially the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.Glad we queued once to see the interaction but would only FP from now on.On the subject of FP,it was perfect for us and took the pressure of having those cards and rushing to the next FP station when wed just come off a ride.It was also nice to just leave the room with nothing more than water and sunglasses as nothing else was needed!
LOWS
VILLAINS UNLEASHED. IMO it was poorly thought out,pre show was slow and very boring, not a patch on Star Wars Weekend. The Oogie Boogie show was at best Americas Got Talent, with sword throwers and fire eaters and a contortionist.Queues were beyond ridiculous. And we even went to the effort to all dress up as Villains.
We thought we would be able to convert our 7 CS meals to snacks at the end but we told it was not possible, although i though i read you could.
Universal Studios.Great park but too many 3D rides and Grigots was underwhelming, would not queue 80 minutes again, although i did enjoy the
train ride, maybe the 106 degree heat had something to do with it,but we were all unimpressed.
Bus service back to resorts from Typhoon Lagoon stopping after 4pm and only taking guests to EPCOT was a real pain.
Last Low was having to go all the way to Downtown Disney to pick up $200 Gift Card.I know why they do it but I'm not a DD fan at all,too busy and i hate shopping
