My wife (Katy) and I got back last night from a 6 day stay, customary highs and lows
It was also our honeymoon as we got married in October so decided to wait for Disney.
Highs:
Weather- It was very mild for the first few days and a bit chilly the last few, but it was only ever warm coat, hat and scarf weather. The last few trips have been triple socks, thermals, and still freezing so it felt almost warm!
You can see how nice the sky was in this photo, and how quiet the park was!
Christmas- Again the Christmas decorations and music was lovely, the Christmas tree lighting up was particularly nice.
Crowds-It was very quiet, Katy gets an easy access card so we don't queue anyway but it was very, very quiet on Monday and Tuesday.
Salon Mickey-We visited for the last time yesterday as I don't think I will bother renewing the membership with the new rules, it was basically empty all week apart from our last visit but it is always a nice way to start the park.
The annual pass and just paying for one hotel guest tip-Bit of a long title, but it worked out so well! We had two nights in the Cheyenne room only followed by three in the Hotel New York where I only paid for my ticket. Getting Katy an annual pass was just about the same price as paying for two people but given I won't be a shareholder next trip we are planning to visit a week earlier next year so we won't have to get her a ticket at all. We will end up saving about £200 including discounts this way so very useful. Thanks to all who answered my questions about this!
Hotel New York -I can't praise this hotel enough, the rooms are lovely ,the breakfast is great and the hotel is just generally really, really nice. We had stayed at the Cheyenne for two nights before and it felt like a different holiday when we checked into the HNY, not having to use the buses is a big plus for us and the location is great. I am not a fan of the outside buildings of the Cheyenne style and our room there was ages away from the main building, it always feels very isolated. I much prefer getting into the lobby and then staying inside all the way to the room, it feels much more connected. In my opinion, which others may not share, I think this is the Disney hotel which represents the best value when compared to hotels outside of Disneyland. (with the current constant offers that is, not rack rate!). I think the DLH provides a better experience but I don't think it is a better hotel at all(if that makes sense). I am very much looking forward to staying at the HNY again.
Buzz-I got my highest ever score of 867,000 so felt quite pleased with myself

Neturals:
Hotel Cheyenne-I really like the main buildings to the hotel but as I said earlier it just felt like such a trek back to the room and I started to resent the buses! We booked via Expedia at room only so it was pretty cheap but the rooms feel so tired and the breakfast sparse. I can never give it a negative rating though due to the theme, just not for me anymore.
Not staying at the DLH For our last three visits we have stayed in the DLH but couldn't find a good deal and we fancied staying at the HNY. As much as we enjoyed the latter we missed the DLH, it is hard to describe but there is just something which makes the holiday feel so different from the other hotels. I think basically being in the parks and being able to see the castle when walking around the hotel makes it feels like an extension to the park. Katy can't stay in the parks for more than a two-three hours due to health issues so when we stayed in the DLH we could nip back for a break. Compared to similar priced hotels in the U.K and HNY I don't think it represents good value, but there is just something about it
Negatives:
There weren't many of these so I won't give them headings but the annual pass office cast members were hardly representative of Disney magic so lets leave it at that! All the other CMs we met were very nice and many went out of their way so kudos to them
Finally another few pics as a reward for reading this far
