Ok so this was our first trip to DLP and having previously been to WDW I promised myself I wouldnt compare the two, oops.

Anyway

Highs.

Hotel Santa Fe, not what I expected from some of the bad reviews. Yes it is cheap and cheerful (cheap in Disney terms), but it does the job. Our room was furthest away from the reception but closest to the bridge that takes you over to Disney Village, bonus.

Weather was great the whole time, no rain thank god.

Anettes Dinner and Billy Bobs both had great food. Queues for Anettes were out of the door most nights.

Disney Dreams was fantastic, managed to get stood just to the left of the castle. However I didn't realise that the time we were stood there meant we were going to see Fantillusion first so was some distance from the floats but still got to see some things.

Tarzan was also fantastic, well worth the wait.

Fast pass, what a god send.

Lows

Watching pickpockets at work, lowest of low.

Queue jumping, quite a lot went on. Mainly noticed one person in queue and a group would turn up and push in to join them.

Smoking, didn't notice any in queues but plenty around the park as they walked, had to keep an eye on the little one to make sure he didn't get caught by a stray hand with a *** in it.

Queue blocking in Fastpass lanes. People were turning up before their allotted time and blocking the entrance, this gave the impression that this was the Fastpass queue so people with the correct time were held back.

Food prices are out of this world, nearly €100 for a dinner for two adults and two kids.

Not the same magic feeling we got from WDW. We both agreed it was down to the CM's, they just don't seem to be bothered.

We did enjoy it but I'm glad I got the 50% off deal as I don't think it would have been worth the extra. Maybe going out of season would be better.

It is so hard not to compare the two I love both DLRP and WDW yet DH would happily never go back to DLRP :(

The smoking is terrible it frightens me now I have a little one!

The pick pocketing is terrible! I know being in Disney doesn't mean you are safe but it's awful that people take advantage of others whilst they are on holiday :(

Welcome back :wave2: glad you had an enjoyable time.

It is hard not to compare, however much you tell yourself you won't!! There are some aspects we prefer at DLP and some we prefer at WDW ..... and next year we're visiting DL for the first time so expect there will be some things we like best there ..... and some that we don't .....

Glad you liked the Santa Fe. I think a lot of the bad reviews are down to people's first impressions of the outside - let's face it, if you've not read up on the theming of the park/hotels (which the majority of holidaymakers probably won't have) then your first impression isn't going to be good.

Welcome back, glad you enjoyed most of your trip. It is a shame regarding pick pocketing people tend to drop there guard when on holiday

Welcome back - glad you had a good trip overall. We love Dreams and Tarzan too :thumbsup2
