Is there a lifeguard on the beach? How is the beach?
There is not a life guard on the beach (though I do believe there are lifeguards on the nearby Wabasso beach). There are lifeguards at the pool. You should check out this thread which has lots of excellent information.

DisneyDayDreamer has many very helpful links and FAQ's on the first page. There is an excellent description of the beach (which is long and narrow). Generally a good amount of waves though I must admit that the ocean seemed like an oversized bathtub in mid Aug of 2008---it was a few days before Tropical Storm Faye hit. Sea was eerily calm. Then the waves rolled in with a vengeance. We were at the resort the day Faye hit. Some scary stuff.

We just took our first trip "home" to VB a few weeks ago and LOVED it!! We went to Vero first and then to the parks because I didn't think my kids (3,5) would understand leaving Disneyworld to go to the beach. It was so wonderful though to have a few days to relax and truly enjoy being on vacation before the more fast-paced schedule associated with the parks. I can't wait to do it again.

I'd love to share some pictures, but I'm not sure how! Sorry!

I booked the 3 BR cottage in last week March-1st of April @ the 7month window w/no problem. In fact it was probably more like 6 months.

So glad to read all these great reviews of Vero Beach! DH and I are going to try it for the first time after the Member Cruise.! :woohoo:

We've decided to drive down from MA so that we can do Vero and Hilton Head on the way home -- and see the coast. The idea sounds good now, but I can't imagine what I'll be thinking come September ;)

This has been a helpful thread. We have been contemplating trying to book VB for a few nights at the 7 months mark and give up a few nights at Disney. I just don't know if we can do it! :scared1:

I HATE leaving property. During our most recent trip - we left for 6 hours to take my daughter to WWOHP. As much as I wanted to make my daughter happy (and I would highly recommend WWOHP), we were literally running out of Universal to get back to Disney.

Oh man, what to do what to do!

We LOVE VB! So much so that we added on there just to be able to secure beach cottages. Although I really love the 1 bedrooms there too!
