Highchairs for infants?

We will be in Disney in 23 days! It occured to me though that my youngest dd, who will be turning 6 months when we are there, is not even close to sitting unassisted and I'm not sure what the highchair situation is there. She sits fine in her highchair at home, which is your standard monstrosity. But, most resturants highchairs are those standard wooden ones that don't offer any support for little ones. What kind of highchairs do most Disney resturants have? Are there any that offer infant chairs? I know you can't bring strollers in the resturants, so my only options are stick her in a highchair stuffed w/ blankets and backpacks to prop her up, or hold her, which I don't want to do b/c I have a 2 and 4 yo to help as well! Any info would be GREATLY appricated. I want to be prepared!

All the highchairs I have seen have been the standard wooden ones you see everywhere. That doesn't mean there isnt a different one, but I have not seen it in use.

What type of stroller are you going to be using? If it's a travel system one, with the infant carrier attached, you can leave your little one in the carrier and just take the carrier into the restaurant.

Maybe someone else has more/better news for you. Good luck!

We took our son when he was 3 months, so we had the same issue as you. We found that some of the TS restaurants have a special high chair just for babies that can't sit up....it's called an infant seat. It kind of looks like a car seat that is attached to a high chair base. Not all the TS restaurants have them, so we found that asking when we checked in at the hostess stand if they had one was helpful....keep in mind that not all of the hosts/hostesses know what one is, so they may bring you a regular high chair instead. If they don't have one, we found that most of the restaurants would let you bring your stroller to the table as long as there was room, and we had a side by side double umbrella stroller....in fact, only 2 places would not let us bring in the stroller....the Biergarten and the luau at the Poly. The only reason we couldn't bring it in there was that there was not enough room between the tables....they are in rows on tiers, and so they are close together.

Will it just be you and your 3 children?

The standard wooden restaurant high chairs is what you will find. Some of the counter service areas have plastic ones with a tiny bit higher back I think, but still basically the same.

Have you considered a baby carrier? I highly recommend a soft backpack type carrier. It will fit easily in your stroller basket or backpack and just slip baby on when you're dining. The ergo is popular as well as the Beco models and mei tai's such as the Kozy, but there are plenty out there. I would suggest finding the cheapest but yet easiest. They tend to be a bit expensive, but I saw an Active Mom Carrier on sale for 75 dollars. But it's 75 dollars that would make life a lot easier during meals. Using a front or side carrier would be cheaper, but the ease of a back carrier is indispensable.

If you go this route, make sure you try it out at home during meal times so you know what to expect.

Most of the TS's will have the standard lowback wooden highchair but some will have an 'infant highchair, that has a reclined seat (looks like an infant carrier) on it and you just need to inquire about it when you check in. Some of the CS's will have a higher back plastic highchair but they don't recline. We found that stuffing bags around an infant works to a certain degree.

When we traveled with our oldest and he was still in a highchair we bought a
backpack carrier that had a kickstand type thing so that we could us that as a chair. Worked great! And that way we didn't need a stroller and he was up high and could see everything.

Thanks guys! I am eating a lot at TS resturants, so hopefully they will let me bring in the umbrella stroller or have an infant seat. It never occured to me to strap her on my back while I eat. I have a carrier that works on both front and back. She is really into pulling hair though, so I'm not sure how that will work. At least now I know what to expect! Can I just say how much I love Disboards? There is always an answer to every Disney question possible!

Our youngest DD was about 3 months old on her first WDW trip. We were able to bring her stroller (Peg P3 so not huge but not small either) into many places with no problems. Others had the Infant Highchairs.

Use the Stroller:

--Le Cellier

--Hoop Dee Doo

--Marrakesh

--Cape May

--Ohana

Used the Infant Highchair:

--Chef Mickey's

--Garden Grill

Used a Pouch Sling:

--San Angel

My dd was 7 months when we went and she wasn't sitting completely on her own. What I used was a Floppy Boppy Seat Cover. It is sold at BRU and can also be used for Shopping Carts. Beacuse it is really big, it kind of supports them in the high chair. I used it for my ds when he had the same issues. It isn't full proof and they still kind of slide, but it definitely helps support them.
