I've seen them in Sam's Club up to 600 thread count and on the internet for over 1000 count. Do you find a difference in the feel of different count sheets?

I find that the higher the thread count, the softer the sheets.

I'm pretty sensitive to the way bedding feels when I sleep. I've found that the most comfortable sheets are either the jersey ones that feel like T shirts or very high thread count sheets.

High thread counts are usually expensive, which is why someone once recommended to me the jersey kind. I've never gone back to regular sheets since.

I like the Jersey sheets and flannel in the winter but in the spring and summer here those are not options. I actually found that Target sells a 275 thread count Egyptian Cotton sheet that is the softest sheet I have found - and it is very reasonable.

Definitely. I can hardly sleep on sheets that aren't 100% cotton and at least 200 thread-count. But I've never slept on 600 thread count - that is high :earseek:. 300 thread-count feels really good.

The Target ad shows that these sheets are on sale this week :). It says $10 each for a fitted, flat, or pair of pillowcases. And the ad makes it sound like that is for all sizes. That is cheap :earseek:.

I have a couple sets of 400 TC sheets. LOVE THEM!!! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_11_116.gif' alt='Pillow' border=0></a> I won't go to anything lower now. Are they buttery soft!!! :teeth:

Penney's just had them on sale...ended Saturday. Buy one set, the the 2nd for $1. Basically two sets for the price of one. Can't beat that! It's the time to buy them. Sometimes you can find a decent deal on the internet. To me they are worth every penny! But there's no way I'd pay full price for them!

OVER 1000 thread count?!?!?! Holy cow, I didn't know that existed! How do they squeeze all those threads in there?! LOL Our sheets are 300 tc, and they are heavenly!!! We paid about $100 for them- king size(spur of the moment purchase...not on sale...no comparison shopping...LOL) But they were worth every penny...soooo soft and smooth. And they are now 3 years old and still look like new. Great quality!! I think ours are Wamsutta brand.

My boys have the jersey sheets on their beds. I won't buy the regular cheap sheets for us anymore, they feel awful!

There is a difference! My Mom always told me to look for cotton and over 200 thread count...I didn't listen once and ended up with itchy sheets that had "pills"... The higher the thread count the softer the sheet, and Egyptian is premium in my book!

The higher the count, the softer they are supposed to be.

HOWEVER

I recently read an article in GOod Housekeeping online, I believe it was, that did their own research on many of the top brands of sheets, counting the threads, and found that many of them lie about the counts. So don't always assume that because it says its 1000, that it really is. You have to do some research on it to see.

Usually, if they are asking $59.99 for 1000 TC sheets, they're fibbing a bit =) High count quality sheets are very very pricey.

High thread counts should be very soft, and get even softer after washing.

Our SIL bought us 1000 thread count sheets for our anniversary this year....WOW. I don't think that our bed will see any other sheets until these rot and fall apart! They do get softer with each washing.

Growing up I had no idea what a thread count was my family bought what was on sale that fit the bed. After I married my DH gave me a lesson on thread counts and boy was I surprised.

I think when these give out I will try to shoot for the 400-600 range. I can't afford to buy 1000 count sheets so we are making the best of the ones we have.

I splurged for our Master Bedroom and bought a set of 1000 thread count egyptian sheets and they are so wonderful BUT when we go on vacation the sheets really bug me now.:teeth: Sometimes you can get GREAT deals on E-Bay and like another poster mentioned overstock is great too.

Before I had my 1000 count I bought Sateen sheets from JC Penny and they were wonderful to sleep on as well. I bought the 400 thread count ones. I think they were about $100.00 for a 4 piece set for a king set.

All this talking about sheets makes me want to go back to bed.

Yep I was raised the you buy NOTHING lower than 200 thread count. I believe ours now are 300 and are wonderful. I imagine sleeping in 1000 count must be pretty near Heaven.
