High tea?

Has anyone had Tea at GF? I'd like to put the boys in peter pans daycare club and go w/BF to GF for tea...................anyone?

Hi! My MIL and I went a couple of years ago. It was very nice and I believe on the ground floor in the back of the lobby toward Bay Lake. We each got a different tea, brought to us under a tea cozy and then finger sandwiches and small desserts. We also had strawberries and cream. Neither if us liked the sandwiches much but the sweets very tasty and the strawberries very good too. I remember it being a little noiser because there was a little girl's tea party going on across the room. Seems like you could do different packages ranging from $20-30. It was a very nice experience and I enjoyed that with her. When we travel we try to have an afternoon tea if it is offered. We have done one in Niagra-on-the-Lake, and at the Biltmore Inn. GF would be #3 on that list just because the other two places were more out of the way destinations and no children to speak of at either hotel. So GF will definitely give you the feel of a formal tea in a Disney setting which is the absolute perfect destination in my book. Everyone should try it once. Have fun!!

Do you think they have tea times around 4 or 5 o'clock?

I think maybe 4 would be the latest available. Looking back I think we did this in 2007 and we went around 2:30 or 3. Check AllEars.com and see if they have a menu with times. That would be my next place to check for info.

Nix above...in checking my dinning App. The service is from 2:00-4:30. Tea is 5.95, formal English tea is $25 (The Grand Tea) and the prices dip down from there. There is an al a carte menu also for cheeses and other foods to go with the tea. If I can get any more details for you let me know.

I went to tea with my 70 year old mom on September 10. We both loved it. Really relaxing and a very different experience from what you get at the parks. Our time was 2 pm but it was the first seating. Think they take reservations until about 4 pm. I am dreaming of the princess blend tea now, which I am kicking myself for not buying some

Just made a mistake on prior post. I edited the times...tea is served from 2-4:30, every day.

High tea is one thing I want to do. On my next trip I will. Classy, civilized, and cozy. I know u'll love it.

1) You can certainly try.
2) But, the hours are based upon employee scheduling.
3) And, the hours are pretty well firm.
4) However, call and try to get the later tea ADR.
5) And, ADR's are almost always required, as they are usually fully booked.
6) Walk-ups are seldom accomplished.

We've been able to walk up before. Later is better than earlier for a walk-up. 2 pm is popular because people use it as a substitute for lunch.

Of course, 4 pm is the usual time for afternoon tea. (Note it is afternoon tea not high tea. High tea is a supper served around 6 pm, generally for workers and laborers.)

I've always understood the Garden View Lounge is open 2 pm to 6 pm with the last ADR time being 5 pm. So, definitely call to find out the correct information.

We LOVE the tea. We went once before and will be going again in 2 wks.
I would definitely get an ADR. Over our last few trips to Disney, we have been unable to do ANY walkups due to that stupid free dining....yes, STUPID free dining. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Flame if you must but to me, FD is nothing but a nuisance.

I certainly don't flame you for disliking free dining. IMO, It is a way for WDW to get away with making an offer to the masses without really losing a profit.

I am so glad I asked this tea question, I will definitely call to ask about a later reservation! I love the thought of a tea in the afternoon at GF! Looking at the menu has made my mouth water!

I did this with my Mom a couple years ago (a tea drinker) and while we both loved the atmosphere, our waitress was awful. She was snotty, dripped hot water all over when pouring into our cups and left in the middle of our service (b/c as she explained snottily to us, her shift was over and she was leaving).

If it wouldn't have been for her, we would have had a wonderful experience.

We did this last Sept and are doing it again in Dec, it is a lovely way to spend an afternoon in Disney. Our ressie last year was at 4:50, not sure if they have shortened the time they serve or not. We were one of only 3 tables in there at the time and they didn't rush us to get done. There was even a couple seated after us that didn't have a ressie. We had the tea that was made special for the GF and it was very good. Know that if you don't like all the sandwiches listed you can sub for the ones you do want. We did sandwiches, strawberries and cream, scones and the treats, everything was very yummy. We are really looking forward to doing this again, especially with the Gingerbread house in the lobby for Christmas. Have a wonderful time!

I have a girl and boy and they go to the wonderland tea party with the mad hatter and alice, my son loved it last year he was almost 4 and wants to go again this year, not sure how old your children are but this may be an alternative to the child care center, the tea for the children starts at 2pm
