I'm thinking of taking my mother to high tea to celebrate her 50th birthday.

Have any of you done this? Any suggestions? Is it worth it? My mom and I love tea, and one of my fondest times with her was when we went to a tea parlor...

Thanks!

I did this about three years ago with hubby and it's a wonderful atmosphere.

It can get pricey and it's hard to get ressies, usually.

If she loves tea, she will love this. It is very nice. Great tea selections, wonderful food. Very relaxing and enjoyable.

I took my mom last may and we LOVED it. They do not rush you and our server was great. He kept calling us "my lady". My mom got such a kick out of that. We had a late breakfast that morning and made the tea our late lunch. Our PS were at 2pm. We had a great time and the food was wonderful. We ordered a cheese plate, scones, tea sandwiches and pastries. It is now a "must do" when ever we go back to Disney. :)

I love doing high tea. For me it is more about atmosphere than food. I would say the food offerings are good -- I've had both better and worse. The atmospher is very nice, very tranquil. You can order either a tea "package" or a la carte. I believe All Ears has the menu online. I would definately do this again.

My mom and I did it last year. She LOVED it!

Probably the best memories that I will ever have of my mother outlaw are from the time that we spent at the Afternoon Tea back in December of 2003. We had a great time and it was a pleasant surprise since I expected to not really enjoy myself that much. So, if you think that you want to do it, by all means GO! Maggie

I have 2 dd's one is 9 the other is 5. Will they appreciate it. My DD9 loves tea. My dd2 loves anything older sister likes. Will we be able to get dressed up. It's sounds like a wonderful tradition to start. I am so glad you had a great time, and I am so glad you posted.

We did the tea with my DDs (2.5 and 4.5). They enjoyed it -- probably not as much as I enjoyed doing it with them, but still a very nice experience. They have a child's tea where they get their own pot of chocolate milk along with sandwiches and pastries. It's served on the same china as the adults. My girls dressed as princesses for it (though not the really big poofy costumes), but also would have enjoyed wearing a sundress. I think you would have a lot of fun.

Ok I'm sold! I checked out the menu and it looks great, exactly what I would expect for high tea.

Thanks everyone!!

We went this June - 9 of us, were really pampered, had a birthday in the group and they made a sweet "fuss", the food was great - we, too, had ordered the childrens teas for our 3 little ones, they had quite alot of food and loved choosing their pastries from the tiered tray when offered, we also ordered the fruit and cheese tray which was a huge hit, the sandwiches were great, but the scones were really wonderful - and try the house tea, it is really nice and smooth, no aftertaste - I found the prices to be nice as well, I go to tea once a month with a group of ladies here at home and was surprised how reasonable the prices were at the GF Garden View - our bill for nine was over 120 (before tip), but we had also ordered two cinderella slippers (because of the birthday girl) and the dog bone dessert.
This will be a DONT MISS, for our next trip
