DD22 is heading off to school in NYC next week..we are having such woes finding her high speed internet!! Anyone have anything-anyone to suggest??
She's in the Soho area..
Thanks!!!:thumbsup2

Try Comcast. My DH lives in Jersey City, NJ during the week and that's what he has in his apt. up there? He's happy with it. We have Comcast at our home in VA too and works just fine :)

Go with an aircard from one of the wireless providers. Verizon has Broadband Access, and Sprint and AT&T have similar services. Generally the card is free if you sign up for a two-year contract at $50 or so per month.

I'm not sure why you are having problems. I have Verizon DSL for $24.99 month. It's high speed.

When we put the address in..it tells us not available...
Seems to be the case with a few..tho we have found a bundle promo with 'Road Runner' or something..:confused3

Have you tried calling Verizon? They may be able to offer you something anyway. Or you can find out what the real situation is by talking to a live person.

They should be able to transfer you over to someone in new services.

You do NOT need to get a landline phone for the DSL Broadband. It's called stand alone, "Dry Loop" DSL. If they try to talk you into having landline phone service (and you don't want it, you can tell them you have a cell phone.

No, we are going to do that this morning..Internet info isn't always up to speed we realize!

Thanks for the suggestions..

In NYC, you can have Cablevision, Time Warner Cable or Verizon FiOs. If she needs phone and tv hooked up as well, they have good packages.

Roadrunner is Time Warner Cable's high speed. We have it and it's great.

Time Warner is the Evil Empire - :headache:

Well, actually I agree with you there - I personally hate Time Warner, worked in the Time&Life building for over 20 years so don't even get me started on what I really think of Steve Ross, Jerry Levin, Dick Parsons or AOL...but that's the only cable service available in my area and my co-op board does not allow satellite dishes, so I'm stuck with them for TV reception. But, even with that, we still love our Roadrunner high speed and have had no problems with them on that at all.
