Hi I know that there are high speed internet at the resorts, but do you have to bring anything extra other than your laptop? Sorry I am just clueless. Or do you just plug in your laptop to the connections provided? :goodvibes

Not all resorts have the hi speed internet. You should bring your own connection to plug into the outlet. If you do forget it the hotels do have extras but if they are out you will be out of luck

Bring your cable to connect, otherwise you will need to request one and wait until it's delivered (or find that they are out)

Not all resorts are wired yet - POFQ is, but POR isn't for example, even though they are 'sister' resorts

Thanks for the help. Sorry to sound so dumb, but what is the cable? Is that the battery power. lolz Iam so embrassed :goodvibes.

I think that means the ethernet cable, which is the actual internet connection. But, I'd be the dope who'd bring the ethernet cable, and forget to bring the power cable! :rotfl:

It's a network cable. It has connectors on the ends that look like they plug into a phone jack, except they are a little wider (and won't fit into a phone jack).

The cable is known as a "cat 5" (short for "category 5"), "patch cable", "UTP cable" (UTP = unshielded twisted pair). The ends are known as RJ-45 connectors (as opposed to a phone cable, which has RJ-11 connectors).

If you have DSL or cable internet access at home (and not wireless), it's the cable that goes from your computer to the router or DSL/cable modem.

Not all resorts have high speed access - some still only have dial-up, so you will need to have a dial-up ISP account and know their local phone # for Orlando.

I did that in December. I have a Dell Inspiron 9100. The battery was fully charged. I bought the ethernet cable and forgot the power cable. Wound up using dialup at AKL anyway. I used the pc on and off to check email and ebay for 4 days and did not run out of power.

I guess I was lucky.
