I don't hate it... strongly dislike sounds about right... it's entertaining and cute - it's fun to joke around with my friends about(aka: breaking out in random song/dance to "We're All in this Together" during school ^_^).. but as a musical theater junkie I can't stand it...

I own 3 copies of the High School Musical Special Addition DVD, 4 copies of High School Musical Soundtrack, 2 copies of the High School Musical Special Addition Soundtrack, and am on the waiting list for High School Musical REMIX DVD. A friend of mine made me watch it...lol. He told me I wasn't allowed to say it was bad until I saw it...I saw it and then told him it was bad...heh.

I didn't like it, but then again, I don't like much any movies on the Disney channel, to be quite honest, I don't watch the Disney channel anymore...in fact, I don't watch much tv at all lol. I only turn the tv on for music videos in the morning (background music while I get ready lol), House on tuesdays (I miss that right now!), Criminal Minds on Wednesdays, and The Office and CSI on Thursdays. That is all I watch, really...aside from just turning the tv on at night as I go to sleep. Wow, okay I digress...a little lol.

iv seen it cause my sister(11) is obsessed with that movie. she begged me to download it onto her ipod. i was watching a little bit of it to see if there was anything wrong with the version i downloaded and found the plot to be fine. i find it incredibly stupid how all of a sudden they break out into song and the whole world starts to get into it. other than that its alright

Let's see...guy plays basketball and is the "cool" jock. Girl is new to school, sings...guy meets girl. High school crushes, cliques, expectations of the kids cause stress...

...not very unique if you ask me. At least not unique enough to get the "rage" it did.

it was okay. yeah, it was kinda weird with the cafeteria and the ending sceen how everybody just started singing and dancing. but i guess i like it. i dont like it enough to go out and buy the dvd though

That is why it is vital for producers to get a cast of "popular" actors and actresses lol...some movies get excellent results because all the hormone-active girls and boys enjoy their "eye-candy" lol.

Example:
POTC - with a cast like Depp and Bloom...need I say more? lol
A Knight's Tale - Ledger got, I'm sure, many ladies to watch! heh.
LOTR - Orlando and Vigo lol.

While a lot of credit goes to the excellence of the movie itself, you can't eliminate that a good amount of the profits it received was from the "fans" lol.

it really is sad how true this statement is. No one really goes to a movie to see a work of art unfurled before their eyes anymore. They go to see some Sexiest Man Alive candidate sweat and show his abs.

Why do you need so many copies? Just curious.







Also, about randomly breaking into song and dance and everyone getting into it--I think that's a throwback to old Hollywood musicals where that happened. They just broke into song in those movies. That hasn't really been done in a long time, so this was 'novel' I guess. I actually haven't seen it, but I know lots of people who have.
