Did your child want one? Where did you order it?

My son shocked us when he said he wanted one. He is all about bling, but we were just surprised. I made him promise that he would actually wear it before we dropped the $ on it.

He got the Jostens order form, and I messed around with different rings. Then a few people said to check Walmart.

We ended up going through Jostens because they had the ring type he wanted, plus we figured if the company was good enough to do professional sports teams rings, they were probably one of, if not, the best. The price would have been close ($30 difference) to Walmart anyway.

We ended up going with the Jostens T31 ring design.

I got my class ring from Jostens as a student also. Don't know where it is at now, but I loved it and wore it constantly.

Both of my kids got one........Josten's

Both DH and I got one....many, many years ago. Still have them. Josten's

I never got one, I went to 3 different high schools, where the heck would I get one FROM? :confused3

But, both of my brothers (who ended up on either side of the moves that put me in 3 high schools so graduated from the school they went to for all 4 years) got rings from Jostens. Neither one wears them any more, but, Jostens is the biggest provider that I know of.

Neither of mine wanted one, and I knew they wouldn't wear them, so I passed.

DS wanted one when he graduated in '13. Unfortunately, we had so many financial hardships--we didn't get it. But I am still planning on getting him one, albeit late...or when he graduates from the academy, the law enforcement one.

DD is a junior so we need to start looking now.

Myself--I really wanted one, but my father refused to pay for a class ring. He brought home a ring from the jewelry shop. It was a nice gift. Don't have it any more. I still want a real class ring, but I can't justify the cost for myself. (20 years later)

Both of my sons got one and so did I. DD doesn't want one. She doesn't wear rings so we talked about getting a really nice necklace with a pendent of some meaning to her (probably a music note) high school years.

They either came from Balfour or Josten's.

DD's best friend ordered one. $600!!!! I was amazed. Neither of my sons' rings cost near that much. Sooo glad that dd decided to get a necklace!

I had one in HS and wore it maybe a year or so. It was a cost my parents probably couldn't have afforded, but everyone was getting them, so they got me one. I did chose a cheaper one, and really liked it. I still have it.

However, it wasn't even on the radar with my kids. Around here, you are the exception if you do get one.

I did get my HS ring. It's a little too small now. I never really wore it. It sits on my desk so I look at it often, but I actually think it's too ugly to wear. Haha! I wish I had gotten my college class ring instead. Oh well!

ETA: I remember my parents spending A LOT of money on my HS ring. At the time, it was very important to me ... Not so much now.

We ordered his when we ordered the graduation announcements, cap/gown, etc.

In the line, it looked like only a few people were ordering them, at least at that time.

His style he ordered is super cool. The front has a top gemstone and a bottom gemstone, with the name of the mascot in between the 2. He picked out his birthstone (December) for the top, and the gemstone on the bottom is a yellow/gold color, so the colors on the ring are the school colors also.
:)

We ordered the cheaper metal for his ring. I told him NO gold and definitely no silver (tarnish issue). I had the cheaper metal on my ring and liked it more than the gold.

Us too! DD16 loves to wear her Dad's class ring for fun, she is all about the bling as well...

DS21 wore his for a few years and now has it stashed in his nightstand in the box in came in.

We just ordered DD16's and I am excited for her to have it. I think it is a momentous occasion and a great tradition. :goodvibes

neither of my kids wanted one-they wanted letterman's jackets.

I had one in high school (still in my jewelry box) and wore it solidly my junior and senior year-after that never really. around here the kids don't get them till senior year so they wear them a year at best (there are some exceptions who wear them longer but it's not the norm). not sure what company the school uses, but mine was through art carved who did a great job and REALY stands behind their warranty's (dh's wedding band is from them, and 20 odd years after the fact it needed a tweak-took it to a local art carved authorized jeweler and it was taken care of at no cost).

I gave my DS (graduated this year) the choice of either the class ring or his letter jacket, and he chose the letter jacket without hesitation. He said it's the Aggie ring he'll have in 4 years that matters, and the letter jacket with all his band patches and such meant a lot more to him.

I had one and wore it for a year or two post graduation. I still wish I had gotten one from my college. I probably would still wear my high school one if it hadn't been stolen along with my mothers by my druggie roommate.

My husband and I both had them, back in the stone ages, from Jostens. I wore both of them LOL. My son didn't want one. My dd graduated in 2014, she got hers as a sophomore and she did wear it, all through high school. She came home for a visit from college a couple of weeks ago and she was wearing it still. She doesn't wear it everyday, she has a couple of other rings she switches it out with, but still wears it a few times a week.

Dd is the same way about her Letterman jacket. She loves it and wears it as much as possible. She will definitely get her money's worth out of it.

Plus, it was less than $200. The school paid $75 for each student.

My mother had one, I lost it. I had one, I don't really know whether I lost it or my daughter did. My daughter had one, I'm not sure what happened to it (her apartment was broken into when she was in college, and both our class rings might have been lost in that incident). My granddaughter got one, she isn't much for rings but has worn it some. My grandson doesn't want one, he graduates in the spring. Youngest granddaughter isn't old enough yet to even ask.

My son-in-law wears his college class ring a lot, or used to before we had rings made just alike for all of us. My grandson may want one of those, we'll see. Oldest granddaughter is a Junior in college, but hasn't mentioned a class ring; are those mostly guy things?

Both DH and I got class rings 23 years ago from Jostens. My high school boyfriend lost mine, which still makes me sad. I loved that ring. :( DH's is in my jewelry box. He said he only wore it for about 6 months and then it got put away.

I don't even think our high school offers them anymore. :confused3 DS said they never gave them any info about ordering class rings. I have been asking periodically since he was a sophomore (when we ordered ours) and he is a Senior now.

I got one when I graduated in 1994. I promptly lost it Freshman year of college. Right down the garbage chute.

Our daughter did not want one. I assume our son will not want one either.

I had a ring in HS and wore it until I graduated. The order form just came home from Josten's for my Sophomore DD. My DD has not shown any interest. She also Lettered in swimming as a Freshman and I encouraged her to get a Letter Jacket but she doesn't want that now either. My DD did murphled about getting a Jacket later on, but I KNOW she won't wear the darn thing after she graduates. I don't want to drop $$ on a Letter Jacket and ring when she's a Senior *sigh*.

My kids' school had the company come in with a display for a couple of days last year. I presume they do it every year. I actualy looked through all the brochures and gave mine the opportunity (since I never had the opportunity myself) to get ones but again, they weren't interested. Both said they would get one in college, probably. I can agree with that. I couldn't afford one as a college student myself, but later I wished I had gotten one, for nursing. A coworker had one and wore it a lot and I liked it. (But at this point I don't think I'll bother.) In looking through the brochures I thought it was cool how you could customize the ring, and that there were emblems for just about every interest, not just sports and honors and such. But I can also see how, at least for, say, a sophomore, their interests can change from year to year, or they might become something like a Captain, so it would probably be wise to wait until senior year so they could pick the emblems eventually most pertinent and important to them, especially for these kids that do so much. Just a thought.
