We have reservations for HIFS in Sept. I picked this hotel for my DS (3), He loves trains and it seems very kid friendly, plus I got the Entertainment card rate of $73. I know most people seem to like this hotel, but on HIFS web site they have a forum and some people were saying it wasn't clean and rude employees. Some people also were saying they got sick while being there or when they left thinking it was from the pool. I also received in the mail a stay at Vistana for 5 days for $198, a 1 bedroom suite. We are going for 8 days and I don't want to switch hotels during my trip. We normally stay at SOG but I don't want to stay in the Contemporary, I like the idea of having a refrig. and microwave. Transportion isn't a problem since we will have our car. I would appreciate any input.

We stayed at HIFS in January of this year and really enjoyed it.

The hotel was clean and our room was always cleaned. The staff we encountered was always helpful and polite. We always left a daily tip for the housekeepers and a note to say thank you. They have a difficult job and some people do not treat the housekeeping staff very nicely and may be rude to them. We feel that they are doing a job a lot of others would not and they deserve to be thanked.

The breakfast buffet was fine, our family always found something to eat.

We never experienced any illness and we swam in both pools during our stay.

All I can say is we really enjoyed our stay, have recommended it to several friends who are going later this year and we will return.

We have stayed at HIFS twice. Both times we found the rooms to be very clean, and never had any problem with illness.

I've heard Vistana is a nice resort also. I think you can't go wrong with either.

We have stayed at HIFS twice. No illness and had a wonderful time! Your DS will love it!

Have fun whatever you decide.

We're going in Sept. too!!! the 26-29. When are you going?

We just got back from there. It was a very clean and nice hotel. The free breakfast buffet was wonderful. My DH did get sick, but I didn't. Then again he went swimming and I didn't. Oh well, I will say that I definitely would stay there again if the price was right. No problems whatsoever-and of course a clean room just makes my vacation more enjoyable.

Kirstin's Mommy - We will be there from Sept. 19-27. I'm really hoping this is a nice hotel, I picked it hoping my son will like it, the last time he went to Disney he was 8 months old.

Cindy's Castle- I read on the HIFS forum page how some people would get sick from swimming. I'm glad to know it was clean. Hoping nobody will get sick on our vacation.

Thanks to everyone who replied.

We're not going to Disney this trip, finances are a little tight this year, so we're going to US/IOA for the long weekend. I picked this hotel because the parks will be closing so early while we're there, I didn't want to take the kids back to a regular room with nothing to do but watch t.v. I hope all of the activities are fun, and I'm glad to hear the pool is clean as well, since my dd loves to swim!!! Maybe we'll see you there!

We just got back on Monday. My husband and I stayed in CBR, but my son and family (4 kids, 12,8,6 and 5) stayed at HIFS and LOVED it! We split up cause since we (Grandma and Grandpa)were paying and just couldn't afford to put everyone on site. DH and I stayed two additional days after the kids headed home.

They just loved the suite (they got the Disney themed room), with all the kids felt really comfortable there cause it's such a family atmosphere. Loved the pool at night (it was really hot in Florida). They just had a ball.

HAVE FUN!!

We stayed at Vistana Resort (Cascades section) last Sept. It was very nice. The main issue we had with this resort was that it was soooo spred out we had to take a car most places within the resort (our children were quite young 3&1).
So this year we are trying HIFS. My DH prefers the idea of a more "hotel" type atmosphere, i.e. can just go down stairs to grab a bite, or pick up some snacks. And no getting in the car to go to the pool!!!;)
While VR had alot of activities planned and going on while we were there, they seemed to be geared more toward older children(7-8 & up). Hopefully HIFS will be geared a little younger, at least some:D. Also VR felt a bit impersonal, but that just our opinion! However the daily calls to get us to do the timeshare spiel were VERY ANNOYING.:(

We have stayed at HIFS the past two years. Very clean rooms and no sickness in our family. I am planning to stay on our next trip.

BTW how do you get this $73 rate?

I got the entertainment card rate, not sure if they still offer it. I read about it here on the boards. I didn't even have the Entertainment book, so I bought that for $10. I have only heard a few negative things about the hotel, but most of the things I have heard are good, so I'm feeling much better about HIFS, I hope my son loves it.
