Now that I've made my reservations here, can anyone tell me what building or room should I be requesting? I have reserved a Queen Kids Suite and a CinemaSuite (we're a party of 9, 7 adults and 2 kids). If anyone that has stayed at any of these suites and has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate any info. Thanks!:hyper:

This has had 20 views and no answer, hmmm? No one has stayed at HIFS that can help me out???:(

HIFS is divided into two areas (West Track and East Tract) with the main restuarant/shop/game room area in the middle of the two. One area of rooms surrounds the kids play area pool and the other surrounds the quieter "lap" pool without the fountains and play stuff. I do not know for a fact, but would imagine that the cinema suites are by the lap pool. The property is not that large so whereever you stay is a short walk to the resturant area. Do you want a noisier kids orriented atmosphere or a quieter adult atmosphere which would help you figure out whether you want the east or west track.

It's hard to make a recommendation, because you won't be able to make room requests until you get there and see what's available. Remodeling is scheduled to start in March, I believe, and I don't know how that will affect room availability. Also, there's not many cinema suites, so there's not going to be a lot of choice involved. I've read that it's best to request a room facing the parking lot to avoid pool noise, but some people prefer being close to the action. If we decided to stay at HIFS, I plan to ask what's available at check-in and then ask what the employee recommends.

Thank you both so much for responding. Both your recommendations make sense. I figured there weren't many CinemaSuites so I wasn't too concerned about that, it makes sense that they have these by the quieter area but the Kids Suite is where my niece, husband and children are staying and I was wondering about requests and such for them only because I was appointed the "vacation agent" for this trip, LOL! Anyway thanks again for taking the time to respond and both suggestions sound great. :teeth:

IMO, none of the buildings are that far from the main building, so any would be fine.

We've stayed there 3 times and in 3 different locations. I really have no preference.

Have fun!

I personally prefer a ground floor. HIFS is 6 stories, and I found the elevators to be a bit slow. There are some buildings that look onto the pond that has lit up figures at night and swans swimming during the day. We might try to get one of those rooms for next time. Keep in mind that a "pool view" room is $20 more per night. Are you Priority club members yet? Ive read some posts that people get free upgrades sometimes for being priority club members...its free...I think there is a link on the HIFS website. We weren't able to get upgraded on our last trip. We loved this hotel in 2002, and are going back in Feb 2004!!!
Hope that helped
Karen

Not all pool view rooms are $20 more. We have stayed there three times and had pool views three times and never paid extra. The first time we were given a pool view when we checked in. The second time we asked for a specific building/ pool view but on a lower floor and when they said it would be $20 more I said forget it and I ended up with a pool view in that same building that I asked for but we were on the 3rd floor. Last year we were priority club members for the first time. I didn't care where what room they gave us so didn't bother to ask for anything specific. We were given a pool view again and they didn't mention that it was an up-grade. All in all, I don't think their criteria for pool views and charging extra is set in stone, but who knows. Again, the property is small and walking distance to the furthest corner (which we had last year with building 12) is really just a few minute walk with the pokiest of kids!

As for noise, I never found it to be a problem, but we are usually up late anyway. I think it would be more of a problem on a lower floor though.

Thank you all for your responses. Travelling with a 4 and 7 year old we don't expect it to be quiet, and I would think that any hotel that caters to families is going to be noisy! LOL! I was just a little concerned because the humidity makes my arthritis act up in my knee so walking to the ends of the earth to get back to a room isn't very enticing! I plan on getting an ECV if I feel my knee bothering me. Thanks again, you're a great bunch!
