We stayed at HIFS Dec 13-19. I had previously confirmed the entertainment rate of $73 a night. I requested building 6 or 7 and ground floor, with a lake view. No mention of a higher rate at that time. When we got there, my husband did all the checking in, and we were charged $93 a night because we were in building 8, and ground floor, poolside. He could have taken the $73 rate but would have been in the adult section floor 6! He was told that was all they had at that rate. It's just bothering me a little. It is still worth it to me and the location WAS awesome. I feel a teeny little bit bait and switched. What do you think? We checked in on a Sat and it was crowded, but thinned out considerably by Sun. Dh said he never showed the entertainment card, they never asked for it. And I'm not convinced I got the entertainment rate! Anyway, that is the only shadow over our great stay, so I wanted to see what you all thought. Thanks, Debbie

Don't understand the problem. You asked for a premium location and they charged you the appropriate upcharge. When you checked in you were give the option of the either the first rate you were quoted OR the upgrade you requested. Sounds like when you asked for the upgrade (lake view ground floor) you thought it was a complimentary upgrade. It would have been better if they had confirmed that you were booking a higher rate.

Don't realy think it was bait and switch on the part of the hotel.

Your rate of $93 was accurate. At HIFS it is $20 more per night for pool or lake view.

Glad you had a great stay!

Thanks! Hubby did all the checking in and didn't tell me the rate until several days into the stay. I just needed to hear that the extra $20 was normal! Since he never showed the entertainment card, I was concerned I didn't get the rate. It was definitely worth it....ground floor next to the pool, just steps from the lobby and parking lot....excellent location!! We loved it there and will stay there again. I feel better now!

I’m sorry about your experience at the HIFS, we wore also there at the same time as you. We checked in on December 12 and got the number 8 building with pool view for the same price we wore quoted of $73.00 a night. We didn’t request the pool view or any specific themes they placed us there on their own accord. We wore very happy with our stay at HIFS and cannot wait to go back in October.

Dear kidshop,
We stayed at HIFS the same time you did. When we checked in they told us they upgraded us to pool view because we had visited previously, but that otherwise we would have to pay $20 extra per night. We also had the $73 entertainment rate. The first year we stayed we had a parking lot view, but last year we also had pool view. I guess the upgrade must be policy for previous guests.

This was the first time we stayed there. Is it possible that they upgraded us to the pool view because we are a priority club members?

They DO offer free upgrades to Priority Club members when the rooms are available. We have gotten them a couple of times.

Personally, I do not consider this an upgrade. The 2 times we were in pool view rooms in the east courtyard, it was so noisy at 10pm from kids screaming at the pool, that my kids were complaining they couldn't go to sleep. If you are trying to relax in your room during the day, the noise from the pool is also annoying. Since there is no balcony to sit on to enjoy the view, I don't know why people consider this an upgrade (maybe if you are on the ground floor, it is more convenient to get to the pool).

We love HIFS and have stayed there many times. We now specifically ask to NOT be given the Priority Club upgrade. We prefer the quiet of the parking lot side of the building, especially since there is really no way to enjoy the pool view anyway.

We've stayed at HIFS three times now. The first year we stayed in building 11. The next year we asked for the same building but a lower floor upon our arrival and they said it would cost an additional $20. I laughed at them and said forget it and we ended up in that building on the third floor. Last year we had the entertainment rate and were priority club members they put us in buiding 12 the furthest building form the main area, but really no big deal to us. THe hotel is so small that it really makes little difference!
