Hidden porthole rooms

We are booked in SPH rooms (either 5522 or 5022 and 5524 or 5024 -- can't remember which at the moment) for May 2006 4-night Wonder. They are connecting rooms. My DSIL booked them on her 7-day cruise this Spring Break -- one room for her and my DS, one room for me, DH, DD. We were originally going to go the week before but ended up switching since the SPH rooms were sold out for that cruise.

We'd like to try the SPR's also. When we book while on board can I just ask the CM which rooms they are, or do I need to write down these room numbers and take them with me?

Thanks,
Deb

Always better to be safe and bring the numbers with you. Even though, on the Disney website the SPR's do come up as first bookings. They are the best location for the room category.

First cruise on the MAgic we stayed up on deck 6 in a verandah room.
This past cruise (6/5/05) on the Wonder we had 5020 and I booked it in 4/04.
I also have 5020 booked for 2/4/06 I booked it in 11/04.

I really liked 5020. I love deck 5! It is close to everything especially the kids clubs. It's very quiet. The only noise we heard was the last night when the porters were dragging all the luggage out the crew hallway across from the room. Even that wasn't very disturbing.

Nuke,
Did you have the steamer trunk? I have always had one and I would like to still have it but if not I guess we will have to do without it.

No steamer trunk in 5020 on the Wonder. I'll be on the Magic in February so we will see.

Edited to add that we didn't need it for the shorter cruise. For a 7 night I would like to have it. It's where I stored all my shoes on my first cruise.

I have a vague idea of what a steamer trunk is but could someone please explain in detail what exactly it is used for and why they only have it in some rooms and not all?? We are going on the Magic (West Coast Cruise) leaving in 2 weeks (July 17th) and we are staying in room 5020. Hope it's not too noisy being close to the kids clubs and elevators.

Janice - When you return from your cruise, could you please post whether or not the area was very noisy. We'll be in 5022 on Aug 6 and I haven't bought a white noise machine yet and still can't decide if I should invest in 1 - we'll be in an adjoiner though.

I have to agree on a short cruise with only DH and myself I can easily do without the trunk but if we had the kids I would want the trunk. It is interesting to know some of the secret porthole rooms have the trunk and some do not.

I am seriously considering booking a 7 day Magic for summer of 2007 whle onboard this September. I would want one with the trunk then.

We booked 5022 & 5024 for the Oct 23, 2005 4-Day Wonder on July 11, 2004. We tried to get any of the SPH rooms for the week before (Oct 16) but they were all booked, so we moved ahead a week to get them. They do seem to book up rather quickly.

108 days till we leave for our 30th Anniversary 4-day Wonder Cruise and a few days at PO-R.

And DW and I are on the starboard side in 5520. We booked ours on our 11/14/04 cruise. Originally we had a November date booked in a cat 9, however I called up Stephanie who was the on-board sales rep and just told her I wanted a secret porthole room +/- three weeks of the original date I had given her and didn't care when it was. She came back with 5520 on the 10/23 sailing, so we're all set.

Honestly, I'm going to seriously look into paying for an upgrade at the port though. I have no problems spending a few hundred dollars to get a verandah.

5020 definitly had last Oct because we used it to store swimwear and keep our towel animals on all week.
I was in room 5020 for the October 23, 2004 cruise on the Magic and we did not have a steamer trunk.
