Hidden paint brushes at TSI- please help!

Okay, I've heard mention of these hidden paint brushes on Tom Sawyer's Island. Even after many visits to DW this is one I've never heard of! My sister and I have decided that this would be a fun venture to take on with the family when we visit this November. Could somebody please clear up some confusion for me?

First of all, can these brushes only be used for Splash Mountain and BTMRR?

Also, I saw that somebody referred to the brush as a "pass". So, is it a pass shaped like a paint brush? Or is it an actual full-sized honest-to-God paint brush?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

We found a paintbrush last month. The CM wrote us a ticket from a carbon copy book. It had our names on it and it was front of line access to ANY MK ride.

I've heard tales of the paint brush. Maybe we'll have to take a jaunt over and have a hunt.

Make sure you are on the first boat over in the morning. The island opens at 10 and the brushes are hid first thing, and only once.. Once you find a brush you turn it back to boat driver and he writes a pass for the whole family to go to the front of the line. Our ticket was only good for one of the 3 mountain rides.

Hint- I use the term "hid" loosley.

DW & I saw one of the paint brushes 2 years ago on a bench near where the raft docks on the island. We decided not to pick it up and just moved over to the side a little to see who would pick it up. We watched 3 raft loads of people walk right by it before we gave up and just went for a stroll. When we got back to the dock the brush was gone but we don't know if someone picked it up or if the CMs just gave up.

You definitely need to be on the 1st raft over to the island to have the best opportunity to find a brush. They are actual paint brushes. It's only 1 brush per family, so if you find more than one, please leave it for another excited child to find. Your whole family will receive 1 hand-written fast pass. I think it's a neat idea!

when do they allow the queue to fill up for the first raft? I was thinking about hitting fantasyland first, but if the park opens at 9, TSI opens at 10, I can hit thunder mountain without a long wait and then go to the island. But I want to be sure to be on the first raft over.

is this announced on the first boat over or anything? or do you just have to "know?"

We usually hit Splash mountain and big thunder mountain first thing then line up for the raft.

The CM"s announce that Tom and Huck were bad and took off instead of painting and they hid their brushes on the island. They do this as the boat is docking. If a Cm fails to mention it simply ask them as you are heading onto the island. Only once did a Cm forget to tell everyone in all the times my family has done this.
