Hidden Gems of the Magic Kingdom!

During our last trip we were on Tom Sawyer's Island when the Dreams Come Ture parade started. We sat on the rocking chairs at Aunt Polly's and could see most of it. No one came around the whole time we were there. It was a nice break before hitting the "main land" again.

The last few trips we have discovered that TSIsland is a wonderful place to go hide. We have gone many times before, but, it just hit us recently how really nice it is.

Just riding the train or TTA is a great relaxation.

The gesyer area behind BTMRR offers a great view of the steamboat as it passes.

ALL of the paths around Cinderella Castle offer unique views and uncrowded time.

Spectromagic is best viewed when: they offer it twice in one night and the second showing is at closing, and, when it is a rainy night. We had this magical confluence on May 22nd, when it rained up until 10:30 that night. Everyone left the park but a handfull. We grabbed seats on the porch at Frontierland Mercantile and waited. There were about 5 people within 100 yards of us and all were on the same side of the street. We got LOTS of attention from all the charactures and very special attention from the walking cast. Mary Poppins and I got to have a nice chat even (I LOVE Mary Poppins).

The party line phone has been moved to "The Chapeau" near Tony's Town Square.

There is now a Glass Furnace on Main Street next to the bakery. The guy makes bowls and things.

There are some wonderful hidden seats between the shops in Agrabah Bazaar. Very nice on a sunny day.

Most important!!! The CMs are wonderful people and truly make make the magic happen. Especially the folks that clean up after us. Everyone should thank them at every oportunity.

Riding the TTA during Wishes. If you time it just right (get lucky), Tink flies right past you. :goodvibes

OR

Riding Splash Mountain during Wishes. It is really cool to come around the mountain and see fireworks. :goodvibes

We've been on BTMRR during the fireworks show at MNSSHP. Very cool! :cool1: One of the best experiences on a ride I've ever had.

I've done that once, totally by accident, but crested the hill on Splash Mountain just as Wishes was going on and WOW! :) That is one cool sight!

Anyone else? I love hearing these things, as it totally gets me pumped for our next trip down in 54 days! :)

Mike

54 days here too... plus my end of school year countdown(12 but 8 is dont count exam days!)--
so damn excited you would think I was the kid and I had never been before (which I have)

We discovered when we were there last week, that you can get FREE pixie dust in your child's hair at the Barber Shop on Main Street.

Here's some:

The coat of arms above the entrance to Cinderella's Castle is the actual Disney family coat of arms

The restaurant in Cinderella's Castle now known as Cinderella's Royal Table used to be called King Stephen's Banquet Hall. This was strange considering Sleeping Beauty's father's name was King Stephen, not Cinderella's.

The Liberty Tree in Liberty Square has 13 lanterns representing the 13 original colonies.

The Pinnochio Village Haus has a small 2nd floor dining area that most people over look. It's usually pretty empty. This is true of the Columbia harbour House as well.

The fort on TSI has an escape tunnel that you have to find which takes you outside of the fort. Also, the fort is named after Samuel Clemmons, the real name of Mark Twain who wrote Tom Sawyer.

Hehe.. Being a teacher, I know what you are talking about! Our kids finished last week, so we are DONE! :)

The more and more I think about this, I really like the idea of the Swiss Family Treehouse at night. I thought it was closed after dark, but apparently not??

One of my favorites is the frozen orange slushes you can get in Adventureland. I believe the place is a small stand called Sunshine Tree Terrace.

Wonderful on a hot day!!!

After the park closes. STOP!! Don't rush for the exits, actually head INTO the meat of the park. For us photo freaks that is the time I grab the tripod and set up with no crowds to kick my tripod legs.:furious:

On our annual Oct. trip we take our family Christmas picture somewhere in the park almost always well after the park has closed.
great tip......most people make a mad dash, but you can really enjoy the nighttime sights if you just take your time at closing. I love any of the rides at night- BTMRR, splash etc, or even the TTA.

The storytime with Belle area is great to relax.

I think it is behind sleepy hollow in Liberty Square area- there is a nice little patio area to just relax and see the castle etc. while you eat your funnel cake!

sitting on a rocking chair at LTT- great spot for spectro too.

DH and I made it over to tom sawyer island and really enjoyed that- just having a lemonade at aunt polly's, and just sitting in a rocking chair there is great.

I still get the willies going through that tunnel. I use to think it was claustrophobia, but, it has become more of "I am afraid that I will get stuck in there!" The other tunnels don't give me that feeling at all.

Another I just thought of, the fountain next to the castle shows Cinderella. If you bend down (kneel) the you can see her get "crowned". Also there is a wishing well next to the castle. (things we learned on the family magic tour.

One thing I like to do is to just sit and listen to the piano player at Casey's Corner. Always great entertainment.

I'm going to have to agree with the posters who like TTA at night (and some of the other rides as well). Splash is AWESOME during Wishes!!! And "I KNOW" its not a REAL RING, but the "ring" outside of HM is so fun to look for!!!Sometimes I find it, sometimes I don't--isn't that weird??? Sometimes I think we rush and just miss it.

:offtopic: Hi to all St. Louis Area Disers!!!!!

These are great! :thumbsup2 I'll be sure to take note of some of them for the next time I visit MK. :)

BTW, if you like this thread, there is a similar one that not only has gems like the ones posted here from MK, but also from all over WDW. It's actually quite an impressive compilation of "fun finds". Here's the now-archived part one, and the current thread, part two, if you want to check it out. :)

Where pray tell is the entrance to this?

Outside the building near Dumbo (at least it is on the Dumbo side of the building). We found it last year (thanks to a tip here on Disboard). It overlooks the dining hall.

Can someone tell me how to get to the path between Toontown and Tomorrowland? I can't place it. :scratchin :confused3

Thanks-- I can't remember the last time I rode the train; probably why I can't remember this path.

It is near the Disney Train station. If you get off the train at that stop there is a sign which directs you there.

for me, it's still walking throught the tunnel of Space Mountain, listening to the cool space music. it's best late at night when there are no crowds.

also, riding Transit Auth over and over during a night rain storm...
