I'M BACK!!!
We've been distracted the past month by DisneyGirl's performance in Fiddler on the Roof Jr. at our local theater.
She was Tzeitel, the oldest dd who gets married to the tailor.
She kicked bootie in her role, and we were really proud of her.
She loved it so much (she had done chorus roles before, but never a lead)
that she went and auditioned last night for a Murder Mystery Comedy that's coming up in August.
So that's where I've been...now on to the program.
Revolutionary Dinner,
and Where's the 20,000 Leagues sub when you need it???
Magic Kingdom part 3
8/31/2009
When we last left the Hicks, they had gone back to the resort for a nap.
Being pregnant, I found these nap & A/C breaks to be essential!!!
After the nap, we headed back to Magic Kingdom,
looking forward to our 4:30ish reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern,
to be followed by more rides, the Electromagic Parade,
and Wishes.
From the pics, it looks like Bionic SIL mets us a little later,
or we left her out of pics. Not sure.
Here's Mom and the kids, after passing through security:
Oh wait, they must have been with us:
DisneyGirl and Poc Jr.
I remember now. The WDW marching band was playing a concert,
and John wanted to stay and watch them,
but Bionic SIL wanted to move along,
and I was too hot and tired to argue with either of them,
so I stood in the shade.
Finally we made it to Fantasyland.
Mom's fav, Small World:
Not sure what else we had time to ride, but we then headed to LTT.
We LOVE LTT. Even without the characters.
We did have to wait a minute:
Actually, even though we really liked the character interaction last time,
we found it easier to stuff more food down when not having to stop
and have conversations with pesky colonial critters.
The Chef here is wonderful with the Gluten free stuff.
No problem!
The only thing we do NOT like here is the tiny upstairs bathrooms.
Very annoying!
We were finishing up eating, and I thought, wow, it's getting dark out,
forgetting that it was only around 5:45, and it was August!
There was a reason for the darkness.
There was a HUGE rainstorm going on.
It was POURING...and unlike other visits with those pesky afternoon showers,
this one would NOT let up!
So...faced with being soaking wet, we headed for the nearest place that could hold a crowd:
Hall of Presidents - we sat on the floor inside with a bunch of other people,
waiting to be let in for the show.
They finally seated us, got the show running,
and about 2 minutes in there was some malfunction,
apparently due to lightning,
and we were told to EXIT the building.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Back out into the pouring rain we went.
We huddled under the awnings of the farmer's market stall,
trying to figure out what to do.
I finally took charge, and marched us over to Fantasyland,
shoes squishing and hair dripping all the way.
Of course the lines to everything were huge,
so we decided to try Philharmagic.
We waited sort of under an awning for about 30 minutes.
Apparently, Philharmagic was also affected by the lightning.
But eventually, we did manage to see the show.
Upon exiting Philharmagic we were once again DRENCHED,
and scurried over to what I like to call "the hidden bathroom" next to Ariel's Grotto and Pinnochio Haus.
If this bathroom does not survive the Fantasyland remodel, it will be a shame.
Great, empty bathroom there.
After that, we gave up hope of seeing the parade and fireworks.
It was too wet...even if it stopped raining we wouldn't be sitting on the sidewalk.
So we decided to make a break for it back to the buses.
The castle in the rain:
Thus ended a really nice day, with a really soggy finale.
Next up: The Hicks get wild
