We go to Crystal Palace every trip.

Oh, and mom is doing better, baby is doing awesome!

Hoping to update soon. It's been crazy around here. :goodvibes

Oh, we love CP for breakfast! Glad to hear you had such good service! Aren't those empty Main Street pictures great???

Glad to hear everyone is doing better. Hang in there! I can't imagine your level of crazy - I can't handle ours, with only five people (six including the grandpa who stays with us four days/week to babysit) we have!

It would never happen cause you are such a good mom but how I would love to hire at least one of your group to tag along with me on one of my trips. Nothing like seeing familiar things through the eyes of a child.

I forgot to mention how nice your mom looks. Anyone can look great when they are so young but when you get older you get the face you deserve and she has a sweet one.

I like the CP but stay away from buffets because I cannot eat all that much. I like places that allow for the kids to get up and interact a bit. It is just too much to expect them to sit still for long periods of time when they are younger and us old ones enjoy watching the young ones having fun. Those who do not should not be at DW any old way.:rotfl:

Sent you a pm. Package to follow sometime this next week I hope. Looking forward to reviews. :woohoo:

Hicks make a manuever
Magic Kingdom part 2
8/31/2009

When we last left the Hicks,
they were leaving Crystal Palace,
stuffed like the proverbial Pooh bear,
puffed like the frech toast you find there,
ready to make a manuever.

[I'm listening to Disney music and waxing poetic this a.m. Sigh.]

Since we had arrived at the restaurant before opening,
and were seated quickly,
and managed to eat quickly,
it was now only 9:15 am.

Space mountain was closed,
but we knew that many people would head that direction,
as well as the many who head to Fantasyland first,
so we decided to head to Frontierland
to try and head off the swarms at Splash Mountain and BTMRR.

It was already VERY warm that morning,
so we were glad we were starting out early!

IMG_1022.jpg

My kids LOVE Splash Mountain!
I think it's ok, and couldn't ride it this time due to the pregnancy.

IMG_1023.jpg

Mom and Bionic SIL and I and some littles decided to wait
and watch them come down the flume,
while there was still some shade and it wasn't super hot.

Here they come! [The matching lime shirts helped immensely!]

Oh yes, they were drenched!

There were really NO people around that morning.

John and some of the kids decided to also hit BTMMR right away,
as there was no wait.

Mom and I decided to take the littles to the Splash playground.

If I had a dollar for everytime we've sat there waiting....

Then we decided to do something that we haven't every done with the kids...Tom Sawyer Island.

Here are some pics from there...until the camera died! :confused3

The kids loved it,

(well, except for the scary caves)

but the adults decided it was too much climbing up and down,
especially since it was getting REALLY hot.

We took the raft back from the island, and headed over to Tomorrowland.

We don't have pics, and therefore have fuzzy memories,
but I think we went on Buzz Lightyear and Monsters Inc.

Then, it was time to head back to the hotel for a snack and a NAP!!!

Next up:
Revolutionary Dinner,
and Where's the 20,000 Leagues sub when you need it???

And I have to give a shout out to BabyCakes Hick,
who is turning FOUR today!!!

Wow, where has the time gone???

Love you Baby!

And here's one of the pics of my kids at Easter
one I feel TRULY depicts them
in all their glory

Have a great week!

Happy birthday, Babycakes!
party:

I need to find the Splash Playground...we're going to need it this trip, because I'm GOING to ride that darn ride this time! This will be my 8th trip, and I've never ridden it! (Granted, it wasn't there the first two trips, and we actually had a trip in 2000 just as adults with my family where never even set foot in the Magic Kingdom. I know...:scared1:). I'm going to get wet in a month!!!

:yay: an update! I am so ready to go back to Pop this year. Your kids are still beautiful :)

Happy Birthday to Babycakes. I know just how you feel, there are some ages when you just wish you could stop time. I imagine that you are far more conscious than most because you have had that experience so much.

I have never made it to Tom Sawyer Island and one of the videos that my oldest grandson loved so much showed kids running around there and in and out of the caves but I was never able to take him over and now he is too darned old. Could not take Tom as he would get lost for shure!:lmao:

I do not believe I have ever seen a picture of your husband before. He looks a whole lot like another DIS friend's husband. I think he looks like the guy on Law and Order SVU.

Package coming at some point. Loaded with work right now. Have them sitting out waiting to wrap. I are slow. So slow.

You are right that the one picture is the best. It is not the carefully staged and perfect pictures that we cherish but the ones that show the sweet flaws and character.:lovestruc

Back to work for me. Hope you are sitting rocking a child and watching the others play. Trade you places any old day.

I'M BACK!!!
We've been distracted the past month by DisneyGirl's performance in Fiddler on the Roof Jr. at our local theater.
She was Tzeitel, the oldest dd who gets married to the tailor.
She kicked bootie in her role, and we were really proud of her.
She loved it so much (she had done chorus roles before, but never a lead)
that she went and auditioned last night for a Murder Mystery Comedy that's coming up in August.

So that's where I've been...now on to the program.

Revolutionary Dinner,
and Where's the 20,000 Leagues sub when you need it???
Magic Kingdom part 3
8/31/2009

When we last left the Hicks, they had gone back to the resort for a nap.
Being pregnant, I found these nap & A/C breaks to be essential!!!

After the nap, we headed back to Magic Kingdom,
looking forward to our 4:30ish reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern,
to be followed by more rides, the Electromagic Parade,
and Wishes.

From the pics, it looks like Bionic SIL mets us a little later,
or we left her out of pics. Not sure.

Here's Mom and the kids, after passing through security:

IMG_1038.jpg

Oh wait, they must have been with us:

DisneyGirl and Poc Jr.

disney09034.jpg

I remember now. The WDW marching band was playing a concert,
and John wanted to stay and watch them,
but Bionic SIL wanted to move along,
and I was too hot and tired to argue with either of them,
so I stood in the shade.

Finally we made it to Fantasyland.

Mom's fav, Small World:

IMG_1040.jpg

Not sure what else we had time to ride, but we then headed to LTT.

We LOVE LTT. Even without the characters.

We did have to wait a minute:

IMG_1042.jpg

Actually, even though we really liked the character interaction last time,
we found it easier to stuff more food down when not having to stop
and have conversations with pesky colonial critters.

The Chef here is wonderful with the Gluten free stuff.
No problem!
:thumbsup2

The only thing we do NOT like here is the tiny upstairs bathrooms.
Very annoying!

We were finishing up eating, and I thought, wow, it's getting dark out,
forgetting that it was only around 5:45, and it was August!

There was a reason for the darkness.
There was a HUGE rainstorm going on. :scared1:

It was POURING...and unlike other visits with those pesky afternoon showers,
this one would NOT let up!

So...faced with being soaking wet, we headed for the nearest place that could hold a crowd:

IMG_1044.jpg

Hall of Presidents - we sat on the floor inside with a bunch of other people,
waiting to be let in for the show.

IMG_1043.jpg

They finally seated us, got the show running,
and about 2 minutes in there was some malfunction,
apparently due to lightning,
and we were told to EXIT the building.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Back out into the pouring rain we went.

We huddled under the awnings of the farmer's market stall,
trying to figure out what to do.

I finally took charge, and marched us over to Fantasyland,
shoes squishing and hair dripping all the way.
Of course the lines to everything were huge,
so we decided to try Philharmagic.
We waited sort of under an awning for about 30 minutes.

Apparently, Philharmagic was also affected by the lightning.
But eventually, we did manage to see the show.

IMG_1047.jpg

Upon exiting Philharmagic we were once again DRENCHED,
and scurried over to what I like to call "the hidden bathroom" next to Ariel's Grotto and Pinnochio Haus.
If this bathroom does not survive the Fantasyland remodel, it will be a shame.
Great, empty bathroom there.

After that, we gave up hope of seeing the parade and fireworks.
It was too wet...even if it stopped raining we wouldn't be sitting on the sidewalk.
So we decided to make a break for it back to the buses.

The castle in the rain:

Thus ended a really nice day, with a really soggy finale.

Next up: The Hicks get wild

It is great to have you back. The LTT is a most for DH and I every trip. The food to good and the service is always great.

Bless wishes for DisneyGirls in her next play. I know she must be excited.

Hey its great to see you again. I remember those downpours last May. Can't wait to read more!

I love the pic of the boys waiting at LTC. Usually your kids are looking all Disney perfect and it was nice to see nice normal boredom for a change. Too much perfection could get awfully boring and I would not want you to be bored. grin

Selling a whole bunch of movies this weekend but none are Disney.

Thanks! I tend to crave LTT food...I could totally eat it RIGHT NOW!
[Stupid low carb diet.]

The Chef decided to try out too. Now we're waiting for the cast list. Ack!

Totally NOT perfect, but I love them intensely!!!

Thanks again for the movies...they are enjoying them!

That is so awesome that she had one of the leads in the play! I didn't realize that! Go DisneyGirl!

I have to eat at Liberty Tree Tavern one of these days.

Oh no! Too funny about having to exit the Hall of Presidents in a rainstorm!

I'm a fan of the Pinnochio Haus bathroom as well!

Aww...too bad your day got cut short by the rain.

We did Liberty Tree Tavern a try this past time - for lunch, though. We really enjoyed it! DH and I had some really awesome pot roast there. Mom and my aunt even really enjoyed the burgers they ordered. I can definitely see us going back there again!

Keeping my fingers crossed for the kids and their parts! I loved being in shows when I was a kid. So much fun!! :goodvibes

I'm gonna try LTT for lunch next trip, whenever that may be!

DRAMA UPDATE: They both got parts! Disneygirl is "an actress" [It's a play about a play] and the Chef is a morgue attendent. He's already talking about playing it like a funny CSI [Making fun of David Caruso doffing his sunglasses to make a point]. LOL
