Before checking into OKW on Sunday May 16, we decided to Priceline an el cheapo for Saturday night. We'll be showing up around 4 in the afternoon after driving 21 hours from PA. Pretty much we'll want a swim and some sleep. We got the Nikki Bird and I've read some ok things, and some reviews that were just terrible. Figured I'd bring it to the DIS. If anyone's stayed there and can give feedback, I'd appreciate it.

I stayed there 4 nights last month and was pleasantly suprised. I typically don't care for Holiday Inns and this one doesn't look too great from the outside but it's okay. It's also a lot bigger than it looks!!!

They have 3 heated pools, each with their own hot tub. There are 2 onsite restaurants, Angels (home of the $26 lobster buffet) and a diner. The rooms have refrigerators (a major plus!) and a small couch. There is a pool table and a decent arcade on site as well, right next to the lobby. My room was right in front of the sand volleyball court as well.

I did have 2 problems at the hotel though. My closest ice machine was broken the entire time but the ones on the next wing worked fine, a short but annoying walk. The other being the physical location of the hotel, it's not really within walking distance of anything. This might not be a problem for you but I like the option of avoiding the 192 traffic when I run to the store or out to eat.

On this same trip I stayed at the Sheraton Safari and the Orlando Wyndham resort, I'd choose the Nikki Bird again.

We were there for 5 nights at the start of March as well via priceline. It is not standard to any other Holiday Inn I've stayed at. Maybe I've been lucky because all the HI's I've stayed at in the best have been solid 3-4*'s. Anyhow, this is comparable to a mediocore Day's Inn.

It really looks like they make an effort to clean-- so I'll give them props for that. But--- things our soooo run down there's not much hope. Not every room has a couch-- we had a table and chairs-- the other room we rented had a couch. Most of the fixtures were rusting really bad, the wall paper boarder was missing in spots as well as falling down the wall 6-10 inches in others. The carpet had stains that were 1-2 feet wide!!! Dark black tarry looking stains.

The pool was really warm and clean--- which was a huge plus!! But the pool furniture was really worn, and most of it was breaking down.

They were sticklers about not letting anyone check-in until 4pm the day we were there. It was a Tuesday to boot. Not even 3:45pm-- they turned people away. This made for a mad dash to the checkin and a long line.

They recently sent me a survey asking my opinion's. I stated exactly what I thought and the facts on why. Anyhow, they have decided to issue me a refund!!

We have just stayed here from March 31st through April 14th.

We are from England and booked with Virgin Holidays, as it is one of their flagship hotels perhaps we had a better room?

We had a kidsuite, which my 3 DD's loved, our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The fridge was clean, microwave spotless and all other extras ie.hairdryer, iron, safe, coffeemaker included - could have done with a kettle LOL!!!

The three pools are all clean and very warm, had to get out of the hot tub as it was too hot! LOL, the grounds are nicely kept and we had a very pleasant view from our room of the pool and gardens.

The staff are all very pleasant and friendly. We only ate evening meal once. The food was OK but very long queues and we didn't think the food was up to such a wait again. We ate breakfast several times, no queues and food definitely superior to evening meal.

I would happily stay here again, the only reason I wouldn't is that my eldest DD will be too old for a kidsuite and we would be looking for a 2 room suite rather than all 5 of us in one room.

P.S. For any English diser thinking of staying here, think of a Haven or Hoseasons "quiet and peaceful" camp and you've got the idea.

We really liked this hotel. It really fit our needs. The pools were great, the fridge and microwave were invaluable, and the room was stocked with supplies to make coffee daily. We had the breakfast buffet on two occasions and thought it was pretty good. They even let you take-out from the buffet and bring a styrofoam container of food back to your room. I was able to bring enough back for my husband, myself and our small children all for the price of one person. We ordered from their Pizza Hut express menu one night and on two occasions, ordered take out from the diner. The rooms are not fancy but adequate.
Good luck.

Hi Pat,
I was in the same boat you are in---got Nikki Bird on Priceline and was wondering what I'd gotten myself into after reading some bad reviews. Was especially worried about one review on Tripadvisor that it wasn't clean, and others that it was run-down. But after staying there April 4-7th, I have almost all positive things to report. Our room was spotless and nothing was chipped or cracked. The rug looked brand new and comforters were unfaded and had no rips. The room (245) seemed like it could have been renovated recently. We were near the smaller pool, but the kids loved it, and enjoyed the jacuzzi (although, as another poster said, it was too hot). Didn't try the Diner onsite, but went to the breakfast buffet at Ponderosa down the road, and there's a Perkins across the street. The only negatives I'd say would be the bathroom was very small, just big enough for the door to clear the toilet, and the concrete exterior stairways are a little yucky looking (I guess it's hard to refurbish concrete!) But I would say they do a great job keeping everything up and the landscaping is very nice. Had good interaction with the front desk also. Hope you have as good an experience as we did!
