Hello ALL!

I am considering joining the DVC. We have been every year since my 10yr old was 2, but last year, going through a divorce and becoming a single mom, we couldnt work it into our budget, BUT we are going this year in December, and would love some input from those of you that have been members for a while. With all of the extra cost involved, do you really feel like its worth the investment? I appreciate your comments!!!

It is not something that you should do casually or quickly. It is great for some people and not for others. It takes a lot of research to really understand it and to know if it is right for you and your family.

There are a bunch of specific items, which go into this decision

Here are a few.

How far ahead can you make decisions about your vacations?

Do you want to go at least every 2 years (3 if you are really good with the system) if not more often?

What level of room do you want?

Do you want spend the extra money to stay on site

Are most of your days at DVC going to be weekdays

Do you have the cash to purchase or do you need to finance

Are you going to purchase from DVC or resale

And about 50 more.

It took me about 6 months and probably 400 hours of reading and research to decide (but I am really cheap)

By the way it is not really and investment in the monetary sense, just in the well-being and enjoyment of your family

I am sure other members will add to the list

One other thing to consider...can you afford it? In 7 or 8 years you will be dealing with college tuition. If you decide to go forward, make sure you research purchasing through the resale market. It might be best for you...it was best for us!

If you know you're going to the parks every year for many years to come - and can say that with absolute certainty - then DVC is for you and you will eventually save $ (7 years down the road). Otherwise, you may want to give it a miss.

thank you to all of those who gave their input! I appreciate your time.
