Hi there! I've been reading for a few weeks and figured I would join in on the discussions. We are all booked for a Disney World vacation at the end of April and so excited! My DH and I are taking our 2 daughters for their first Disney vacation. My youngest will be 5 and the oldest will celebrate her 7th birthday while we are at Disney. We aren't telling them until Easter, 2 weeks before we leave, and I'm trying to think of some neat ways of telling them. We're staying at the Wilderness Lodge, I love the wow factor for our first Disney trip, plus I love the fact that we got a queen bed and a set of bunkbeds. My girls absolutely cannot sleep together as the youngest rolls all over and snores and is a deep sleeper, and the oldest is a light sleeper and can't stand her sister rolling all over her. A bunkbed ensures we'll all get a better night of sleep! My oldest daughter loves animals much more than princesses so we're going to spend the day at Animal Kingdom on her birthday, starting with the Tusker House Safari breakfast and probably ending with dinner at Rainforest Cafe. I've got most of my other dining options decided, but still looking at menus. We're doing the DDP. Looking forward to learning a lot from this forum before we go, I've already learned a ton just in the past few weeks!

Welcome :welcome:

DH and I are taking our 9 year old to celebrate her 10th birthday in October. :cheer2:

One thing I have learned is you can decorate your room, window and door. How cool. All of my planning has now come to a halt (most of it is already done anyways) so that I can work on planning out the decorations.

Since it is the kids first trip, make sure to get them buttons from WL (front desk) that say 1st trip to Disney...I hear that all kinds of magic can happen with a special pin....ALSO get a "it's my birthday" pin (from front desk) the day of your dd's birthday...again, I hear all kinds of magic can happen with these pins....I have been told that she should tell EVERYONE she sees that it is her birthday.

For my DD's birthday in the park, I went to craft store and made her a t-shirt (has a big cupcake in the middle with Birthday at the top and girl under cupcake) and I also got her a Happy Birthday tiara to wear. We will pick up a button when we check in.

I hope you have a blast planning your trip

Great idea about getting the pins, thanks! I thought about having a shirt made for her as well to wear on her birthday. I'll have to see what I can come up with. Decorations would be a lot of fun, I'll have to figure out something with that as well.
