Hi lakeparadise

Congratulations on winning!! Wow that would be so exciting. :cloud9:

If you have small kids and this is your first time to WDW, you MUST stay at a resort with Monorail access. Not only is it great for transportation to Magic Kingdom (where you'll probably spend most of your time) and Epcot but it is soooo cool. Your kids will love it. To be at a resort where you can just jump on... you can't beat it. I would stay at the following.

1. Grand Floridian (WDW's most luxurious resort)
2. Polynesian

The Contemporary resort is also on the Monorail but is probably not as nice as the Yacht Club/Beach Club (these resorts are side by side beside Epcot). So it's a tie for my 3rd place.

3. Contemporary/Yacht Club/Beach Club

Let us all know what you decide and have a great vacation.

I know everyone loves AKL and I enjoyed it too, but for a free trip I would highly suggest either GF or Beach Club. AKL has very few dining options so unless you are renting a car, you have to take the buses everywhere. The buses were very prompt and you don't share with any other hotels, but the monorail and Epcot hotels have so many hotel restaurant choices. When we stayed at GF in Nov, we had dinner at the Poly & CR and they were so easy to get to. It was great - we were able to check out the other hotels, which we didn't get to do at all when we stayed at AKL. Plus, AKL & WL are the cheapest Deluxes so you could come back another time and pay for those, whereas GF & Beach Club are a lot more expensive.

Have a wonderful time on your trip!! And do the Hoop de Doo too!

I have small children and I would definately recommend a MK resort. That is where you will probably be spending most of your time. I would also pick the resort that you would not be able to pay for yourself ~ GF springs to mind first. It is the flagship of the Disney World resorts . My second choice would be the Poly. The pool is fabulous and if they'll go for it LVC is awesome. Poly also has some amazing places to eat ~ Ohana and Kona (TONGA TOAST!!!) come to mind. My 3rd choice would probably be YC/BC for SAB . Your children will love SAB its like a water park. Whichever you choose have a great time and sending lots of PD your way. :wizard: Please let us know what you get.

My first choice for a monorail resort would be the Poly. The atmosphere is much more laid back and not as "stuffy" as GF. I guess it depends on your family, too. I'd be more comfortable running around the grounds of the Poly with small children and the pool area is nicely themed. There's also a nice beach you can sit on right across from MK so you can catch the fireworks and Electric Water parade.

With so many differently themed resorts, I would choose what best fits your personalities. I know with 8 opinions that won't be easy! LOL :earboy2: But for instance, we stayed at WL a few years back. Me, I like anything. My husband, on the other hand, did not like it because it was too "woodsy" (dark) for him. He thought that when in Florida, it should be more of a "sunny" feel. Like I said, I loved it. I don't have any plans to ever visit out west, so I thought this was a great experience. But nobody needs someone in the party crabbing about where you are staying the whole time because they don't have the right vibes :goodvibes there.

Have a great time!

First_ wow and congratulations (even if I'm a little jealous ;)
