and WDW virgin here.

Found this great site while browsing about all things Orlando. Im heading over for my first trip with my 9yo son on June 14th and needless to say, we are both as excited as it is possible to be  I had never really thought of going to WDW before, mainly because of the cost involved (as a single dad going on holiday, it can be quite pricey) but recently Virgin had this sale thing going which I found on another forum (hotukdeals.com - great site :thumbsup2 ) and decided to have a browse at their website. Managed to get two weeks in a basic hotel, the Comfort Inn LBV, for a great price. The hotel is basic, but personally as long as its clean I dont really care about anything else. We'll hardly be there anyway, plus the pools in the hotel look great (and received only great reviews) and junior has just learned to swim, so that is an added bonus!

I thought 'what the heck, its now or never probably!' and went for it. Now, I am so glad I did! The only problem is, I cant stop thinking about it now lol

In the meantime, im looking forward to reading all your great stories, reviews and stuff :thumbsup2

Hi welcome on board :thumbsup2

you can't go wrong LBV is a really nice bit and really close to Disney, Down town diseny and some really nice restaurants. Have never stayed at the Comfort Inn but I am sure someone will come along who has .

have you also hired a car ?

Just wanted to say :welcome:to the DIS

You can hear the excitment in your post :)

Check out the UK Trip Report Board, I love reading about others trips and getting ideas for mine :disrocks:

Hi ali :)

The hotel has had mixed reviews, I think its a bit of a hit and miss depending on what building and room you get (there are 4 buildings in the complex). As I said though, im not too worried about that. If the maid service isnt up to scratch, ill scrub the place myself ;)

Yeah, I am going to hire a car. I was going to hire one for the 2 weeks, just a basic compact model. Then I realised this was a trip of a lifetime for my son, and something he has always wanted dad to own is a convertible. So, ive decided on a definite 1 week hire of a Chrysler Sebring, but depending how things go I might just keep it for the 2 weeks.

Its not everyday you get the chance to drive down a US highway with the wind in your hair, and the Eagles blaring from the stereo (ive always imagined this as my dream driving moment :cool2: )

Hi, Welcome
We stayed at this hotel at Xmas, I did put a short review on here saying what a bad experience we had but after reading other reviews I hope it was a one off. Every room was full so I am putting it down to not enough cleaning staff. If I dont find another hotel for Easter I will give it another chance.
As for location its our favourite area, We have booked to stay across the road again for 25 nights in August at the Courtyard by Mariott, we have stayed on International drive, 192 West, 192 East and onsite but LBV is the best in our opinion.
happy planning
Wayne

Thanks for the welcome Kaylee :thumbsup2

I had a look at the trip report board last night. The photos on some of the threads are amazing! If you have never seen WDW before, they definitely give you a better idea of the 'feel' of it than anything you see on brochures or travel agents websites, eh? :)

Thanks wayne :thumbsup2

I think I read every single review about it on the tripadvisor website haha  Some of them I wished I hadnt lol. As I said above though, it does seem to be a bit of a hit and miss affair. Something else I noticed is that usually, if you complain to the hotel about your room, they will move you. I wouldnt normally think about doing that (im no the complaining type, which isnt always a good thing) but since im only asking for cleanliness, I dont think its asking too much for another room.

Good to see that your giving it another go, that is heartening!

@ Netty: You'll regret saying that :)

But since you asked, I do have a question hehe...

My friend was in Kissimmee some years ago, and he is adamant that they had discount magazines in the vendor things (you know, the box on the street that is famous in the US that you put money in to get your newspaper) but these were free, and as well as having discounts to things like dinner here, breakfast there, etc, they also had offers for WDW and Universal.

I havent heard this anywhere else on the net though.....is that the case?

Yes you still can get the discount booklets etc basically anywhere, they are handy. I'm not sure though that they would have any disney discounts though, maybe someone else may know that one.

ive stayed at the comfort inn LBV :thumbsup2 we had a good experiance

welcome to the disboards:)

Wasn't going to post link to my thoughts but it might help you choose your room. I wrote this the day after we returned so probably sounds worse than it was, things always seem better after a good nights sleep. I did say never go back but I would be willing to give it another chance as I think we got a bad room and cleaner.

I hope your thinking of more questions to ask because we are waiting to answer.

Hi - it is common to see discount magazines around yes, and they do tend to be full of vouchers , however they tend to be for restaurants and some shopping coupons possibly too, I would think it unlikely there will be anything for cheap Universal/Disney tickets in there.

Thanks Wayne, id already got a heads-up on the noise from the I4, so ill make sure I request a car park room :)

I heard some reviews that mentioned the 'crossroads' as the place to go for breakfast. Is that at the junction at the bottom of palm parkway, a few hundred yards after you turn left out of the hotel? Also, is Downtown Disney within walking distance?

Cheers :)
