G'day,

Just wondeing if you can help...

Going to disneyland in april, havent set dates yet though.

1, where can I find a list of all the characters where abouts?

2, I am pooh sized, ie big tummy - does this restrict me on rides and if so, which ones?

3, motorized scooters - where do I hire these and how much?

4, cheap hotels close to main gates - disability prevents lots of walking.

5, Is April busy? What are the park opening hours?

And last but not least, cheap hotels in safe parts of hollywood!

Much thanks in advance

Hi there!
I am also pooh sized and been told the only ride I might have trouble on is the astro orbitor. I think Disney is one of the few parks that realize people come in all shapes and sizes. Don't go to Knotts....it is not pooh-sized friendly apparently!
I did a lot of research on the hotels - I really wanted to stay at the BW Park Place, but was out of my budget of $50/nt. I did find the comfort inn and suites for 47/nt and it was not walking distance, but did have a shuttle. All the reviews were really good on it too. I think as long as you have a shuttle you should be fine. I know that lots of people speak highly of the Hojos. Go to www.tripadvisor.com and look up reviews of any hotels you see that you like.
April might not be too busy (other than easter time) because the 50th starts in May, and I would think most crowds will wait for the 50th. I could be wrong,as I am no expert.
As for Hollywood - I am spending 2 nights/3 days there with my 8 yr old daughter and did a lot of research on the Hollywood hotels too. I had booked the Days Inn on Hollywood Blvd, then changed my mind when I read some unfavourable reviews. I saw another one that looked neat - its a private family run motel...can't think of the name sorry...but then....I spied the Renaissance Hollywood - the rooms have a view of the Hollywood sign and its at the big new Hollywood/highland complex. My daughter and I LOVE everything showbiz and I had to find a way to stay there!!!!!!!
I managed to get a Marriott/Renaissance $100 bonus bucks off of ebay for 12 bucks. When you stay 2 nts you get 100 off your total bill. Now the rooms at this hotel are 199-250/nt, but I managed to get a gov't rate of 125/nt. I couldn't pass it up! You might want to look into doing the ebay thing and getting a bonus bucks to use! I also saw some that were worth 180 US dollars because they were 100 pounds - they were going for about 40 on ebay. Just an idea for you.
Don't know the answers to your other questions...sorry!

1. Don't know, but most of us can tell you if/where we've seen certain characters.

2. Astro-orbiter would be a tight fit. Also, I've seen some people not be able to do the Maliboomer at DCA if the shoulder harness can't be buckled (but these were rerally large people). Also, the Orange Stinger seats might be a tight fit (though the weight restriction is apparently gone).

3. You can rent one just inside the main gates at either park (and if you rent one in one park you can take it to the other). Sorry, don't know how much.

4. You probably want to check the list of Good-neighbor hotels (I think there's a sticky at the top of this forum).

5. The latter part will probably be a little less busy (after spring breakers leave), but I'd expect a fair amount of APers around because there will probably be soft openings for Buzz at that time and sometimes they're AP only.

Scooters are $50 a day, however when you return it you will get a $20 deposit credited back onto your card. The HoJo is very nice but it can feel like a long walk. My father in law who is disabled (thats who we get the scooter for) really felt like it was a long walk (7-10 minutes) after a long day at the park. You might want to think about one of the nearby hotels that offers a shuttle to and from the parks, I believe the Sheraton does and gets good reviews.
