HHN worth It???

Ok I am going back and fourth on weather to dish out 225.00 for both of us me and my 16yo DS for the stay and scream package on HHN, plus transportation to and from POP. I have decided If we are going to go to the S&S,Its the only way to go,but from reading diffrent post about HHN from the the Houses only takeing about 10 min(not counting wait times to get In) to get through and the scare zones set up to scare the teenagers and the older kids I dont seem to see It worth paying out the extra Big Bucks for the night!. Now I like watching horror movies,the special effects and the work that goes Into them and It would be for that reason neat to go,I guess what I want Is some one to tell me that Its worth 100.00+ per person to go see and why? whats going to knock my socks off that I walk out that night saying wow that was worth It.

We are haunted house fanatics here and we would definitely go IF we had the money this year. Universal does an excellent job on this but it is pricey. We would also get the tickets to bypass the lines but that just adds more cost of course.

We decided to not go this year and fly to Philadelphia on miles and see a few high rated haunts there instead. It was only due to the price though so I'm curious to see what others say.

Personally I think it's worth it, but then again I am a Halloween lover. When we lived in Chicago, DH and I dropped plenty of $$ each year going to all of the local haunted houses. HHN is truly the ultimate scare experience.

If you love getting scared,seeing haunted houses you could never imagine someone to build to scare the living daylight out of you and the scarezones done so good that it does keep you on the edge allnight long.Then no HHN is not for you.
For the peeps that done it atleast once will testify it is the best holloween event in the country...
This is A pricey event,but once you do it you will see why!!


Sidenote-if your going for onenight get the Express Pass or you wont see it all!!

We went to HHN back in 2002 and it was the best single night I've ever spent at a park. If I were rich I would make a trip to Universal each year just to attend HHN. You will not be disappointed!!

PS - I am a middle aged, not especially into haunted houses type of person, if that helps.

wow thanks,If you all could say there Is one thing that draws you back to again and again, Is_______????,Is It the story line of the event?,the chacters atmesphere/ambeince. For my self something that I can draw back on when I was a kid,and Its really not a Haunted house but at knotts berry farm(In Cal) In the 70's at night It gave you the feeling of a ghost town and I always remeber that feeling of eerie feeling,Is any of that there at HHN,thanks again

The thing that draws me back is the haunted houses. While I love the scare zones and shows, it's great to have 8 professional level houses all in one spot. We used to drive for miles to see multiple haunted houses, but HHN puts it all in one place for one price.

Oh, and I'm a middle-aged person too but I've always been a Halloween sort. My husband is older than me and had never been to a haunted house before I met him, but he is now utterly and thoroughly addicted to HHN. The only house I've ever been to that is as good as Universal's is one that used to be in the Western Chicago burbs called Silo X. They would shine a flashlight in your face while spinning you around, then shove you blind into a completely black maze. You'd be hanging onto complete strangers trying to find your way through it. And then there was the dude with the machine gun once you got out.....

we are going to MNSSHP and really looking forward to that to,we do not do the local Haunted Houses there all put on by local radi stations and seem to be about getting teenagers In there more then anything else.So we do stay away from those.

The atmosphere - totally agree! From the moment you enter and the fog curls up around you to the deepening darkness, then scareactors jumping out at you everywhere - that's just walking through the park. The houses themselves - can't be described, they MUST be experienced. As reasonable and rational as I am, they still creeped me out. The Jurassic park area really got to me as I was remembering the movie as we walked through it. I half expected to be eaten alive in that area. In the end - just terrific fun.

I have hundreds of memories of different things done at HHN through the years,the first year it was all new to me so things like the chainsaw guys running at you with buzzing chainsaws,bloody fingers in a bakery case where cupcakes had been 5 hours earlier,fog and fire effects,80 foot tall Robosaurus blowing fire and crumbling cars were things that were all new and totally exciting.I also remember that first year how less crowded it was than now and seeing the festival of the dead parade and coming home with about 20 pounds of beads since it wasn't that crowded and when they would throw the beads they would just sit on the street without getting picked up right away.Years later the first year it was held in IOA the foam covering the street in Toon Lagoon in some areas like 6 foot deep will always be a highlight.The interesting smells in the bathroom at the mental hospital house that was held in Jurassic Park I remember but probably don't want tver the years there's been some years better than others but going every year is a must as compared to other Halloween events most of the houses and themes are all new as well as things they come up with every year like the bungee guys coming down at you from the side of the buildings by Shrek and Jimmy Neutron.

Now, I haven't gone yet, but I tend to do massive amounts of research for everything I do, so my info is going to be based on what I've read from articles and other's recounts of the event. The scareactors, as with most haunted houses these days, cannot touch you, and you can't touch them, due to legal issues (no one wants to get sued ). I think in terms of houses, there are some where you'll walk by a scene (I believe the Saw house is going to be kinda like that this year), and in some you'll be in the middle of the scene.

HHN is going to be crowded almost anytime you go. Weekends it will be more crowded, but it is open longer. You're best bet is to get an Express Pass so you can make sure you do all the houses at least once. And as far as the show...I'm on another message board that is strictly pertaining to HHN and about 40+ members there are scareactors this year, and from what I've heard from them, they strive to put on the best show every night, so you'll be in good hands.....to get scared!!

The scareactors can not touch you and vice versa...you can be thrown out for doing that. The scareactors will walk all around you and get in your face inside the houses so you'll hear lots of screaming all around. HHN runs on Sundays and Thursdays - Saturdays...sometimes on Wednesday nights as well. Going on an off-peak night is definately better than a weekend but it will still be busy.

You can purchase the tickets before you leave home and do print at home...if you wanted. October 16th is a Friday so it's gonna be packed!

Sold Out?!?! HA! RIGHT! That will never happen. I've seen crowds at capacity at both USF and IOA on nights that IOA wasn't supposed to be open. They will cram a bunch of people in there and keep selling tickets until the fire marshall tells them to stop!
