HHN Website Just Updated!

Just a random thought that occured when I was looking at the site intro again. I think the choice of cards chosen for the intro may have something to do with this years theme. I'm thinking instead of fate, this year could be a personification of Luck, specifically Lady Luck, maybe? Just find it odd they chose the queen and an ace instead of a jack and an ace. But that's just what I think.

How about a Wheel of Fortune but there's nothing fortunate for the player? ;)

If the theme is Luck, I think that really opens up the possibilities, because many horror stories are based off of bad luck (aka: being in the wrong place at the wrong time).

I think the theme will work well. I can't wait until Sept!

Shades of Red Dead Redemption zombie addition! A local haunt did a haunted ghost town theme and it was great. Maybe it'll have something to do with that?

I don't think that it will be gambling.

Just saw this on another board: "Nobody beats the house, Maybe the HOUSE is an extreme house based on a casino"

Which I really like the idea of, I'm strongly hoping for an "Alone" style house this year at HHN with the success of it at HOS (now that there is some sort of standard on how to accomplish a house like this), I know Universal would take it to an all new level if they decide on having one this year!

I'm tending to agree. They spelled "fate" with a lowercase "f" in their last update. If they intended to personify her they generally would have capitalized it, even if they had to structure it such that it was the first word in the sentence so as not to give it away too early.

Yeah, I'm an HHN nerd.

From another update:

“To wait for luck is the same as waiting for death.” – Japanese Proverb.

cards were involved in one past hhn.

the icon is what i'm thinking about now.

People are seeming to think that it'll be a "Lady Luck" type deal so far,
June 28, 2011 YOUR FATE AWAITS AT UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT’S HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS 21

ORLANDO, Fla. (June 28, 2011) — They say, “To wait for luck is the same as waiting for death.”
Are you waiting for Luck?

You are captivated by an intense desire to tempt fate. Your heart races. Your nails dig into your thigh. The taste of blood is on your tongue as you bite down on your lip. Your eyes shift wildly as you contemplate the risk. Desire seduces you…and you forget that the House always wins.

Luck will run out as you are consumed by Universal Orlando Resort’s Halloween Horror Nights 21. People from around the globe will be haunted by “the country’s best Halloween event” (Amusement Today) beginning September 23 at Universal Studios Florida. For 25 nights, screams will fill the darkness as guests discover their fate.

So go ahead - take a chance at Halloween Horror Nights 21."

They really treat luck like it'll be a person the way they mention it, using capitalization and phrases that make it seem as if you'd be dealing with a woman "intense desire to tempt fate...desire seduces you" things of that nature, and on the site it's using a queen and ace instead of the normal Jack that would be seen in blackjack, maybe that's looking too into it, but I think it could have something to do with it...

Bingo, and they can get away with it in the proverb because of the fact that it's a proverb that they are quoting.

Lady Luck. This is going to be good. I'm still hoping for a Cowboys and Aliens house though, it could work perfectly into that theme.

House is capitalized, that's significant. I just looked back and they did it in the original update too.

I belive it will be a woman icon, they used a queen instead of a jack
and the queen of spades always has a flower in her hand, theirs has a knife.
and also the severed hand.

I didn't notice that, I'm thinking it will have something to do with luck as well.

I can see the Lady Luck bit but I do hope that they work the western theme in somewhere. I'm telling ya, that's very cool.

I think they will, even the cards on the site are older, not modern at all. Given the music, I would also expect a 1920-30 style speakeasy as well. I think the western theme would be the best though.

Universal has been super secretive this year so there really hasn't been any clues on the houses, other than some sort of possible casino house with the teaser, so really the houses could be anything!! Which excites me beyond belief lol
