HHN ticket question for Premier Passholder

Does anyone know if i could use my ticket that's included with my AP for an upgrade to Frequent Fear and I pay the difference? I would love to do the FF pass, but don't want my ticket going to waste

I know I read on Orlando Informer that last year you couldn't upgrade the Premium Annual Pass HHN ticket to a RoF or FF pass. Universal considered them "comp" tickets.
