HHN Solo and Transporation questions

I am fairly familiar with Universal and IOA but I will be attending HHN by myself this year. This will also be my first time at this event. I was wondering if it will still be enjoyable if I'm alone and if anyone has any tips? I've been to WDW several times solo and have had a great time.

I also will not be renting a car but will be staying on Disney property. I did a search and found some threads about making reservations through Mears where it costs $16 per person round trip. That sounds ideal but I was hoping to get some more details on that, and if that's something I can still do for when HHN ends. I just want to find a safe, reliable way to get myself to and from Universal.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Tips: Stay and Scream
Express
RIP Tour, if you can afford it
Dont ride the rides
see all of the shows
Transportation:
Get a cab?:confused3

I have an AP so I plan on coming earlier in the day and then staying for HHN, so I hope to do the rides I want to during the day and then focus on the HHN events at night. :)

That's the best plan. Don't worry about the rides...do the houses first. :thumbsup2

For transportation I'm sure you can get a bus or a shuttle pretty close by.

i do hhn solo each year.
i try to hook up for some of my time with other homies on the boards here.

if you are taking mears round trip, you will miss out on some of the hhn evening. mears has a schedule of 2 different times to return to disney.
check out their schedule. if you don't like it, take the mears to disney in the day and take a taxi back to disney when hhn is over.

is it easy to find a taxi @ 2am? where would I find one at universal? How much would this cost?

It should be fairly easy since the cab companies know that people will be leaving at all hours.

At the central hub (midway between the garages and the parks) there are signs pointing you to ground transportation located on the lower level. It's easy to find.

I have no idea what the cost would be. :confused3

cool! So I can just walk out at say 1:45am and there should be a cab there and ask then to take me to wdw!.
then I hand them 40$ freaking $$$$$$:headache:

i took a cab once like you are planning to do and paid $25 for the ride.

very little traffic out that time of the night you are returning back to disney.

taxi charge per mile and time

Thanks for all the information! :thumbsup2 I actually got in touch with Mears and they said that they do run their shuttles late from Universal to Disney, due to the hours at City Walk. So I hope that is true! Otherwise I will settle for a cab, but it would be far cheaper to use the shuttle, especially since I'll be by myself.

I would not hesitate to do HHN solo but I would suggest staying closer to Universal on those nights. Get a room at the Best Western Movieland or the Rodeway Inn and you would probably be about a $5 cab fare from the park and they are very decent motels and it is a lot better than the $30 fare to Disney. Mears has had some very bad reviews about there late night transportation. Have fun!!
