HHN: Should I change my reservation?

I'm booked Sept 24 -29, staying at Pop Century. We're planning to go to HHN for the first time. I made these reservations almost a year ago thinking that HHN would be this week. Now, from what I'm reading, the first night might be the night I arrive, the 24th and the next time might be the 29th, the day I'm leaving. I'm debating about extending my reservation for a day and leaving on the 30th, so I can go on Thursday night. It would cost be another night's stay at Pop, full price for free dining, and a change in plane fare.
I just got an email from southwest that they are having a sale through the weekend. I originally paid $62 for my flight home. This has gone up to a range of $182-$242 every time I check. Through Saturday, the flight will be $114. With taxes and fees it will be $94 more for the flight for the two of us. If I wait and have to change it later it could go back up again. So for the extra $, should I change now, or wait and hope that the dates will actually coincide with my vacation.
I can't believe they make us wait so long . You have to make plane flights early. It makes no sense to me.

i have been attending HHN since the 1990's so i plan my trips to the darkside to coincide with the october dates.

i don't do the opening weekend anymore but do the 3rd weekend for it. (columbus day weekend)
more nights available and i like to hit all 4 of them.
have passed on hhn this past year on the saturday, but that is a long story.

hhn usually is for 6 weekends, based on the past years.
the last weekend would be the end of october.

i say you should add another day onto your trip. arrive a day early if you can.

some years the thursday has been added to the second weekend if it falls in october.
too early now to say if thursday will be on the agenda for the second week.
maybe it will, maybe it won't....:confused3

based on the sales in the past, you'd think thursday will be on the calendar for the second week of hhn.

if you can add 2 more days to the end of your trip, we know the last friday will be included for hhn.

i say do it.

but then, i am completely and totally addicted to HHN.....

Universal has been slowly releasing HHN information on the website for years now. They like to make it a game and I enjoy trying to figure out clues and puzzles.

I have gone the 2nd week for the last 2 years and it has been
Thurs-Sun. According to park hours for this year in Sept. it shows
Universal closing at 5:00 on Sept 29th&30th(thurs. &Fri.).
Of course nothing is offical yet, just saying.

hi tricky, yea it was on at that time last year.

i looked at another website http://www.undercovertourist.com/pla...ark-today.html

and it has the tenative listing of hhn for the 23 & 24 of september.
note that it has an asterick by those dates stating 'not confirmed yet'.

check that website also and see when the actual dates are listed.

we'll have rumors and speculation for a few more weeks.
dates should be listed by july.

Thanks for the advice. I will check out undercover tourist. I haven't been to that sight for many years. I can see how some people might think it's fun to check the clues if you don't have to book hotels and flights way ahead of time, but I find it frustrating.

A couple of posters on HNN (not sure if I can post the name of the site here, but it's a popular HHN fan site) who are "in the know" mentioned today that the website should receive a small update by next week, which should include ticket info and such. It's tentative, of course, but I'm sure we won't have to wait much longer for some news.

I feel your pain, OP... I have everything but the hotel bill booked, paid for or budgeted, all that is left is HHN stuff. The wait will drive you crazy, but the buildup to the big reveal makes it all worth it :thumbsup2

the addicts to hhn do go to the other websites for more info.

you are free to post any site on the threads.

on one board that i am a member, we have posted the time line from past years to help figure out the release of info for '11.

I called the Universal Ticketing and Reservations # about a month ago, before I booked my trip, and asked about specific dates. They confirmed HHN was scheduled for those nights.

Another method is to check this page for park hours. Any night US closes at 5pm is an HHN night. Thursday the 29th is a HHN night.

Even though dates and ticketing information hasn't been formally posted, this information has been available for months. Plus, HHN has NEVER had dates during the middle of the week in September. Not sure what night you thought it was going to be open in September (Sunday? Wednesday?). I'm actually shocked they are open Thursday Sept 29th, I could have seen that weekend still being Friday/Saturday only. If you didn't do a little research before you booked your trip, that's on you.

All that said, I'd definitely extend your stay if you can afford it. It's a great time. Have fun.

Opening weekend for HHN is always Friday and Saturday. The next week opens on Thursdays so that's nothing new...it's been that way for years. If HHN is opening on 9/23...the September dates will be: 9/23, 9/24 and 9/29 & 9/30.
