HHN: Scared to Death

Every team member should know how to address guests complaints and concerns. Each and every team member is part of the guest service experience. You don't need to work at GS to make a guest happy or to address their concerns. And if a guest has an issue that you can't answer, you find the person who can answer the question. We are all in this together whether you work for a third party vendor or not.
And I work very close to where you work. :thumbsup2

As far as HHN, it's hard to say what the average guest experiences unless you have gone yourself. Try it out this year and I think you will find that the scareactors are very professional. But every guest who goes should expect to be scared. There are no dancing pumpkins at Universal's HHN. You'll have to go to another themepark for that. People pay to get scared at HHN. We need to give them their money's worth. HHN is one of my favorite things about Universal!

Even the daughter of a company executive told that "You care too much" about a week before she quit. That is typical of the photographers. Because we get none of the perks of the Universal employees but are the ones working in 95 degree heat without the shade or fans given to the turnstyle workers while in thick no-breathe-fabric uniforms formerly worn by turnstyle workers and no longer worn by them because they are inappropriate for Florida heat while Universal Studios gets half of the money from our picture sales, the attitude of the photographers is "What has Universal Studios done for me lately or ever?" I know that this isn't the customers fault, but just watch the body language of the photographers at the front gate to see what I mean.

Now as to Halloween Horror Nights, we clearly have the attention of the marketing personnel on this thread so this is your opportunity to sound off about what you like or would like to see for Halloween at Universal Studios. Please take advantage of it everybody. It may be too late for this year, as the "21" theme has already been chosen. There is always next year, and I am sure that the HHN staff is already on it so here is your chance.

As someone with personal connections to scareactors, I know that they are well trained in their role. Their goal/role is to scare you/creep you out/mess with you. It's a lot of fun. Experienced scareactors know when to ramp it up and when to back off. And the stories I've heard from them....priceless.

tell me if i have this correct.

are you saying that the marketing personnel of Universal Orlando reads this thread, this specific thread, and wants to hear opinions from guests that attend HHN.

That the marketing department is interested in hearing what the public wants to be included or excluded for HHN.

just let me know if that is what you are saying and not what i think you are saying.

the day hhn closes, the next year's hhn is already in progress

OK, I am trying to decide if my 12 year old would love it or need therapy afterwards. She usually likes suprises but she has autism and is non-verbal and I can never be 100% sure on things like this. Would the scareactors back off on us if she was becoming freaked out? I would hate to spend all that money just to end up leaving right away. I'm thinking maybe for her Mikey's NNS halloween event is better for her but I really didn't want to venture over to the motherland this trip. I want her to have fun, and us as well, but since I have never done this before it's hard to decide. About 13 years ago we did some scary event at Church Street Station that scared the CRAP out of me but it was so much FUN that I always wanted to do it again but that place closed.

I think you should stick with MNSSHP and wait for a few years to do HHN.

agree w/ Metro.

for her to go to hhn, it would be more terror than fun.

the website has an age warning to the public.

I think you can definitely handle it. I went last year and did not find it extremely scary. However, it was very crowded when we went and we had people all around us with little to no separation into "groups." Basically we were just walking through in one long line so it was hard to get really scared with people in front and behind you. Some of the "scare zones" were far scarier than the actual houses. It's worth going, and it's not extremely intense in my opinion.

I am sure that all of the theme parks have employees who are paid to read web sites dedicated to theme park fans. There is a buck to be made in a verrrrry competitive business. Haven't you noticed the bickering that goes on between the champions of Disney and those of Universal? I can't believe that the general public would get so heated because somebody prefers the resort that they themselves do not because that just leaves more room for themselves in the parks that they do prefer.

I believe that everyone has to go to the Halloween of their own personality if they choose to go to such events at all. Are there things that I love about Universal Studios? Absolutely. Portofino Bay Hotel alone would be worth a trip over to Universal Studios in my opinion. I would pay to stay there if I weren't even going into the theme parks. Do I think that HHN is something that I would pay admission to? Nah.

you did not answer my question.

you change the subject and keep talking.

Jake...is that you? :rotfl: my son is 18, 6'3" and 230lb....loves horror movies, but about has heart attacks when startled. I've honestly been scared for him at some of his responses.

I say, no, don't go and put yourself through this. But then, I've been dealing with my sons weird nightmares/sleepwalking for several years. He wanted to go to HHN last year, but two weeks before, he woke me up with a nightmare. He said he woke up, and what looked like a "burn victim" was standing next to his bed. We decided to go to MNSSHP instead of giving him fodder for more bad dreams.

But jakes always been a little spooky. I woke up once, when he was about 7, and he was standing next to me. Scared me to death!! I asked him, "Jacob! What in the world are you doing?!!!"

His response............

"I'm not Jacob, the real Jacob has a different face". :scared1:

He also speaks a foreign un-unknown language in his sleep. Seriously.

WOW that is pretty creepy!!! Just hearing that has creeped me out more than HHN ever could :scared1:

Judging by the number of your posts, it wouldn't surprise me at all if you are paid to monitor this board and sway the conversations. Would that be offensive to me? No, and I doubt that it would be to anyone else here. We understand that it's just business. You might actually prefer another theme park company or perhaps theme parks are not your cup of tea at all. So there is no need to be so touchy. I am hopefully about to move on to another job I really, really want that is not in a theme park so I have no ulterior motive here. I therefore hope that you will wish me luck and not seek to pick fights where a young man asked a question of real concern to him and to which he deserves real answers.

My question was also real. Although I do not see myself having a longterm career at Unversal Studios -- hey, I am not even their employee -- I do have a real interest in themed entertainment and a great deal of respect for the kind of people with enough talent to create special holiday events. So my question still stands if anyone would care to answer: What would you like to see at future HHN's? I think those who want to give you what you feel you paid for would be interested in your ideas.

Would you prefer to see the horror factor toned down? (Would you like a light version of HHN OP? Maybe work your way up to the advanced level?) Are there some here daring enough to perhaps like to see it kicked up a notch? Why? Remember I have never been to HHN's so it would be all new to me. In fact, I am more of a Christmas girl anyway.

When his head starts spinning and he starts spitting up pea soup, that's when to get help! Also if he starts crawling on the walls and ceilings!

Of course, I believe that marketing people are reading this thread, especially those who are in the HHN business. I don't like to be rude to people, but you are so determined to keep beating a dead horse. I don't understand why.
