I know - odd question. But we have 3 adults and 3 kids - ages 16,12, and 8 going to US and IOA. I am considering a surprise of HHN, but don't know what is there, if anything for the 12 and 8 year old. Both are scardy cats and girls.

The rest would be gung ho. Any info or suggestions?

Halloween HORROR Nights

That second word is the key. Eight haunted houses with terrifying demon creatures trying to "get" you as well as several "scare zones" where the zombies what to eat your face or chainsaw you to bits! That's not an exaggeration. The only thing scarier than that is the lines and the drunk people en masse.

If you have two "scaredy cats" they will probably hate it. Scareactors KNOW who the easy scares are and can be relentless. They won't touch you, but will get right in your face and space.

The 16 year old would be fine, I would have thought the 12 year old may have been maybe ok until you mentioned the scaredy cat thing, and I'd say a definate no to the 8 year old.
I don't think any of you would end up having much fun. The big attractions are the houses, which you may not be able to get an 8 year old to be willing to go into. You can't navigate the park without going thru at least a few scarezones. The shows are usually a little risqué at times, enough where I'd question even taking the 16 year old. And on top of all that, only about 4 rides will be open.
Oh, and as also stated: drunk people. Drunk people everywhere. Imagine someone setting up a haunted house inside of a bar.

It is not appropriate for kids, and if they are older but frighten easily, it is not appropriate for them either. It is meant to lean towards the adult (risque,gory,in-your-face and alcohol fueled)and frightening..

Basically, don't bring the 12 and 8 year old, it is not an environment I'd bring children into, very intense/scary, heavy alcohol influence.

The 16 year old would be fine, my first year was when I was 15.

Thank you all for the info - glad I asked!!

So lemme ask this...

We are going to be at US/IOA on Wednesday and Thursday before the first HHN. I see that you can buy tix as an add on to reg park entry. We are contemplating taking the 21 and 16 year old and finding an alternative activity for the other 2. We may split up as parents, but may trust the boys on their own.

Question 1: Can we buy the add on for HHN for Friday the 23rd of Sept, when we leave US on Thursday?

Question 2: Can we make a decision and buy the add on while we are there?

Question 3: What should we do with the other kids? We will be checking into a Disney resort that night.

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. Can't help you there since I don't have kids.

1. You can buy the Stay And Scream add-on when onsite at Guest services.

2. Yup! Just go to Guest Services. From what people have mentioned, the lines can get long towards the end of the day, so you may want to go earlier.

3. Well.... It actually looks like Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party will be held that night, and it should be much more the 12 and 8yr old's speed. It might be worth looking into as something to entertain them, and also to avoid any potential sibling jealousy stemming from a "why did they get something special for halloween and we didn't?" feeling.
