I know typically the houses have a staggered opening...can anyone tell me if that is the case this year and, if so, what the order of opening is so I can make a plan of attack.

Thanks in advance!

If you're going to Stay and Scream the first houses to open are Wolfman and Dracula. When you finish them I would head over to either Saw or Chucky, because they are popular and get crowded fast. By the time you get out of them all the houses will be open. If you choose to do Saw the closest houses when you get out are Spawning or Leave It To Cleaver. If you chose Chucky then it would be Silent Scream, Spawning then Saw but you have to be careful not to run into the crowd leaving Bill and Ted's Excellent Halloween Adventure. Frankenstein gets lost in the shuffle, it is actually closest to Wolfman and Dracula but it doesn't open until 6:30 so you could either spend the time waiting or walking to a house further away. I would read the threads that rate the houses, it may help you with a strategy.

These times could also be different now because the first 2 weeks had AP events so some houses were open earlier than usual. For instance, on opening day Chucky opened at about 5pm and Silent Scream was next so if you came out of S&S expecting to be in front you would have seen huge lines at those houses.

After they let us out of the Stay and Scream area we basically followed the crowd to the Wolfman and then Dracula.I wanted to get Frankenstein done next but it said it was opening at 6:30 and it had a line which wasn't moving at 6:34 so I chose not to waste time waiting for it and try and see if Leave it to Cleaver was opened which it was with no wait, after we did that house around 6:45 all the houses were opened. One thing for sure is that houses are better once it gets dark, your eyes are better adjusted to seeing inside the dark houses thus making for a better experience. We did the Dracula and Wolfman house later in the night and it was so much better after your eyes adjust and you can see all the details better.

So maybe a dumb question, but here I go.
I have the stay and scream passes and also the two day two park passes. We are going to hhn on Saturday and planned to do Islands of Adventure that day. But would it make more sense to go to Universal on Saturday in order to get in line for the houses early? Or are you still allowed in the park early if you have the stay and scream? I was under the impression that no one was allowed in the park during the transition times.

Stay and Scream isn't a separate ticket. You have the park ticket then you have your HHN ticket. If you are doing both on the same day you don't have to leave the park during the transition, that is the Stay and Scream bit.

I haven't had to deal with this in years but it used to be that if you were in IOA and didn't have a multipark ticket they would have a way for you to get over to US. I doubt this has changed but I'm sure someone will give you a definitive answer soon enough.

i'm think if you were in ioa there was an exit in seus landing that took you through the backlot to usf, but im not totally sure

Yes...there is a back entrance through Seuss Landing that's used for S & S too.

Cool. Thanks guys! I'm going next weekend for the first time to a HHN and want to be prepared. I'm so excited! :) (Especially for the Saw house)

i felt the saw house was really dissapointing esp considering it had almost 3 times the wait of all the other houses
