HHN- Just fell off the turnip truck

My DS (21 yo) is insisting on going to this event. I secretly believe it's the only reason he agreed to go Disney with me. I'm just loaded with questions I don't have the answers for, and looking for any info I can find.

What I've gleaned from reading so far is I should plan on going to US in the afternoon and then go to the stay and scream area. Also buy the EP. Hit what we can hit before the masses arrive and then EP the rest. Here come the questions:

1. Does the EP help much or do so many people buy them that the EP lines are monstrous also?

2. What can I expect at the event? What type houses? What type shows? What else?

3. Can you realistically expect to see all the houses and shows or do you whittle the list down to "must sees"?

4. How do you determine what are the "must sees" in advance?

5. Any good websites with info out there?

6. We're going the first Saturday night it's open if that changes the answers any.

7. Can you buy the EP when you purchase the tickets(plan on doing this online) or do you wait until you get there?

8. How many people do you need for the RIP tour? Approximate cost?

Express does help, but even then, the EP lines can be "monstrous"--just not as bad as the regular lines. Also, when an EP line starts getting up over 20 minutes, staff will generally start advising people to maybe try another house and come back.

With EP, you should be able to do all the houses, and at least one or two shows. Without it, probably not. As recently as 3 years ago you could if you were there at opening, but not lately. If you're going the first Saturday, going to be hard to find the highlights--everything's new each year. Best bet would be searching here for reviews from employee preview night earlier in the week.

As I recall, EPs are available on-line.

1.) The Express Plus passes are definately recommended. The standby lines will reach 2 hours or longer on peak nights. You'll still have wait but nothing like the standby line.

2.) The houses and shows are pretty secret until the information is released in the summer. That's part of the fun!

3.)If you go on an off-peak night and have EP's, you could see everything but it would be very tough. Between the shows and lines, it might be tight getting everything in.

4.) Once the website is released in late June, you can decide what you must see and could skip. I'm not big on the shows but the Rocky Horror Tribute show is supposedly coming back this year.

5.) www.halloweenhorrornights.com is the official website but you could also check www.hhnvault.com too. Nothing is up for this year's event yet.

6.) Opening weekend is a great time to go. I go opening night every year and I enjoy seeing the scareactors learn their roles and just walking around.

7.) If you are certain on the dates you're attending, you can purchase the EP's at the same time. Some nights sell out online so you would have to wait until you're there...but they may be sold out as well.

8.) I think the RIP tour is 12 people and it's pretty expensive but worth it...from what I understand. I'm planning on doing it this year with some of the DISers.

Yes the cabs are waiting...you will have NO trouble finding a cab.

We agree, if you can afford it, the RIP tour is the way to go

... looked at the information from last year and prices were $120/pp plus tax for off peak nights and $140/pp plus tax for peak nights - groups consisted of up to 12 guests per guide
