We will be doing the HHN 9/29 and 9/30. I was only going to get tickets for one night but then noticed the frequent fear pass is good for both the 29th and 30th and is the same price as a one nite ticket. This is where the confusion starts. Now I don't know whether to get the express pass for Fri. the 29th or sat. the 30th or if we will even need it with it being the first weekend. Anyone ever been there for the first weekend and how are the crowds? Which nite for express pass or will we even need it??

Hi,
I saw that, too...We're going that next Saturday, the 7th, and unfortunately the Express Pass is not available for Saturdays...
I would say definitely get the Express Pass. When we went down in 2003, it wasn't opening weekend, but the weekend after (like this trip we're going on) and it was packed to the gills. We didn't even get in three haunted mazes because the lines were just waaaaay too long.
I said that if we go down again, I would definitely get the front of the line pass. I say do it, this way you'll be able to see all the houses and be able to enjoy them over and over!
Have fun!

The 29th (Friday) is the first official night. They are usually working out the bugs, but things go ok.
I always go on Saturday night of the first weekend. Crowds are there no matter when you go. The key is to be in the park around 3pm, and head over to the stay and scream area.

We will be there on the 30th of September as well.

My DH has been wanting to go to HHN for years. And this year I surprised him by saying we could do it.

We were thinking about staying on site, but found price wise, that it was better to go with regular tickets and get the express passes.

Pleasant surprise for me. I was thinking that the express passes for that night were 60 a piece, but through the link that disckobox provided, I see that they are only 50.....that's a bonus!

ok..so what I think i might do is get the frequent fear pass and get the express pass for Sat..the 30th. We'll go Friday the 29th and then use the express pass Sat to see what we didn't get in the night before. Sound like a good idea???? Thanks every one for your advice.
