When do they actually start decorating for HHN? It looks like Oct. will be our best chance to avoid any bad weather, but I would also like to get in before any decorations go up.

Very few decorations are up during the day. Most of the decorations are put up after the park closes for the day and before HHN begins. Sometimes when you're exiting the park/heading for stay & scream, you can see some of the decorations going up.

Some stuff is to big to move & will be there all day....

Thanks for the info. and the pic. Is there actually electricity shooting between those bars? :scared1:

So does that mean they are decorating all the way through Oct. or do they start even earlier?

There really isn't decorating. The haunted houses are inside buildings and any mazes are roped off from the public. There may be some props like the picture above but not something you can really tell is Halloween related. You won't see monsters or gore anywhere in the park during the day.

Thanks!! I just don't want my DDs seeing anything too wierd. :teeth:

Then I'd definitely avoid taking her to the Horror Make-up Show at Universal. :earseek:

Now that you mention it, we've never seen any of the shows at either park. Is that a show that is always running or is it just for HHN? There is one that I keep reading about on here that everyone raves about....but I can't think of the name right now. Any must sees?

Horror makeup show is always there. It is across from Mel's Drive-in on the same side of the street as Terminator.

It is an excellent show but wouldn't be something you would probably want to see with your daughter if you are worried about fake blood and gore.

When you visit during the day, you can barely tell what the props are for. You'll see some boxes covered up with tarps (fog machines). But for the most part, the park is completely normal during the day, the crowds are light, and it's a great time to visit.
