On opening night of HHN we did the AP event, tonight we went to see what Stay and Scream was like. Since we went through every house yesterday we were more relaxed today and we concentrated on getting pics of scareactors while there was still some light. Good thing, but that's for later.
We got into the park around 4:45pm. HR3 was open so we checked it out. The line was posted as 2 hours wait but we got in line anyway because that looked like a permanent sign. You could see people coming down the stairs at the end of the ride so I waited in line while DW went back and asked people coming off the ride how long they waited. She came back and said 90 minutes so we left. As luck would have it they opened up the singles line just as we were walking out so we jumped in that and were up front in less than 2 minutes.
They say singles will be split up and that's true but all I did was ask the person (another single rider) who was put next to my wife if he wanted to switch places with me. He did so we got to ride together
It was the first ride for both of us and we agreed it was kickass, not a rocket start like Hulk but extremely smooth with lots of loops and twists. This ride is a winner but there is still no way I'd wait 2 hours to ride it.
After we left HR3 we meandered about for a while because we didn't want to spend the entire time sitting in Finnegans. We arrived at the S&S area around 5:20. It wasn't nearly as crowded as we expected (btw we did call the AP reservations because it went so well yesterday and the event was booked solid, we couldn't have went to it even if we wanted). I bought DW a wine spritzer and a Killians for myself then we sat down near the barriers so we would be near the front when it opened. They started leading people to Wolfman at 6pm.
If we hadn't have seen it the night before we would have thought that Wolfman was total crap. They didn't have the lighting set properly so instead of seeing all of the lovely details of the forest we stumbled through the dark. There was a scene where Wolfman runs up and gets shot at, that wasn't even working. The next house, Dracula, wasn't much better. IMHO the S&S people got ripped off tonight. As we were leaving Dracula we thought about heading back to Wolfman and trying it again but we saw the surge of people who had just been let into the park heading toward it so we went somewhere else.
Since we were on one side of the park we headed up to Saw and did that, then we went over to Chucky. After a second night of houses Chucky still gets our vote for best house. The beginning of that blows my mind, we still haven't figured out if they are tilting the bridge or not. All in all, taking our time and wandering around we still had 5 houses done before 8pm.
We went to all of the scarezones to take pictures. None of them even come close to the Alice in Wonderland theme of last year. Right now they are all subpar, hopefully they will get some feedback and tweak things so it's better when we return in 3 weeks.
We did the Rocky Horror Picture Show tribute tonight. Every time we watch that it makes me want to see the movie again. They had a twist on Rocky this time I won't spoil it unless it ends up in one of the pictures we post.
At a bit before 9pm we headed over to Cirque du Freak to take some pictures and it started raining very lightly. Those characters were gone in a flash
I guess once any kind of rain starts any scareactors who wear makeup leave. We headed over to the War Zone where the actors wear rubber masks and they were all still there, so it must be a makeup thing.
At 9pm the posted wait for Wolfman was 10 minutes so we decided to give it another go. The actual wait time was a tad under 20 minutes but we think the rain put more people in line before they had a chance to change the wait time. Still, for a saturday night that was nothing. This time they had everything running perfectly, it is #1 or 2 depending on what you think of Chucky.
When we came out it was pouring rain so we decided to leave. The rain didn't seem to affect the crowd much but we knew we'd be returning so we called it a night.
If you didn't want to spend money on Express passes you could have easily managed to hit all of the houses. We did 6 without stressing at all, we even went on MIB between houses and still had them done before 9:30 (5 plus one repeat) The longest posted wait we saw was 45 minutes. We did see The Spawning, of all houses the worst, with a 75 minute wait just before we went into MIB but when we came out of MIB it was 45 minutes so it was probably a mistake.
I promise we'll get pictures up eventually. Instead of being in a hotel where we can make noise and move around we are staying at a relative's house. They are asleep when we come back so we have to be extra quiet and can't set up to move pics off the camera. At the latest they will be on tomorrow evening when we get back to our own house.
