Went to my 1st HHN last week, had a good enough time but found many of the American kids were drunk. I swear many of these must of been under the legal age for drinking, many were abusive and loud. I saw some chucking drinks over the scare actors who they were not impressed with. Is HHN always like this?
I don't mind people enjoying themselves with a drink or a few (I do it myself but can control my drinking and myself) but at times the atmosphere was not so good.

We have been twice but on Thursday night (10/16) was the worse for us. There was a "party" of 5 girls who sat behind us on Jurrassic Park that completely ruined the ride for us. They were so loud that you couldn't hear anything on the ride. Every other word was the F word. Believe me I do not have sensitive ears but this was waaaaay over the top. I had my 15 and 16 year old sons with me and even they were embarrassed. These girls couldn't have been over 18. One kept yelling all during the ride, "I need another f***ing beer!"

Orlando public schools didn't have school on Thursday and Friday and so the parks were full of teenagers those nights. I know that underagers couldn't buy drinks so all I could figure out is one of their party must have been 21 and buying drinks for everyone else. They were also talking about high school so I was pretty convinced these girls were underage and drunk.

Yikes!!

Sorry you had to deal with drunk kids...doesn't sound fun and it seems like they made fools of themselves.

Sadly, that is a common occurence with HHN. Or sometimes people "smuggle" their drinks in. My sister told me how once, during Mardi Gras, her friend (15 at the time) smuggled vodka in a Zephyrhills bottle. They're both clear, so security had no idea.

Don't they make you empty your pockets and dump out any liquids you have before coming to the park? My friend and I went last week, and he bought a $3.50 Zephyrhills at Citywalk and he took a few drinks and security made him dump it all out before going in to HHN. Did kind of a same thing with me, I always carry a plastic flask because it's easy to carry in my pocket. I filled it up over by guest services and had to dump it out before going in.

This was several years ago (last century, actually :p), so Security wasn't as tight. Plus since it wasn't HHN, they weren't going to such extremes.

I'm not sure about HHN, but I know they don't make you dump out water upon entering the parks during the normal part of the day. I've brought in bottled water as well as an occasional Pepsi or Mountain Dew with no problems.

Though that's absolutely terrible about the 15-year old!

To be honest it happens everywhere now although at the theme parks security should be tighter and take action against these kids or even the big kids as anyone whos ever stayed in a hotel when a conference is on

It was definately starting when we were there, and thats why I have recommended that people with kids or people that don't care for amatuer hour stay in the park and get an early start after IOA closes and get express passes. I have to be around drunks far to often in my job and can't stand being around them on my leisure time, especially loud obnoxious ones. We left by about 11:30 due to a combination of tiredness and a bad feeling that something was due to break loose with all the drunk kids.
On a sidenote, I wonder if they have as many problems at citywalk with all the alcohol? DM, can you answer that one. When we were there at about midnight (we had watched a movie), it seemed that everyone was tanked and loud. As we were walking back i saw two guys on a motorboat who looked possibly like security flying towards citywalk in the water where the water taxis run. They looked like they were on a mission and I wonder if they have many fights over there.

It was Weds 15th we were there and my comments stem from the first 90mins of the night! I was inline for an attraction and the comments and antics of the kids was annoying me and many others. They were clearly saying how they'd only been drinking an hour and were p*ssed already etc etc, wait times were getting longer after a couple of hours and we left pretty soon after that, at the time it was all the wait times that made us leave so early but if we had of stayed longer I don't think we would have put up with the drunks much longer.
I live in a town in the UK, drinking in pubs and clubs is part of the culture over here, plenty of pubs together within short walking distance and I've rarely felt an uneasy atmosphere in the town, unfortunately I can't say that for HHN but was thinking it was a one off.

That is horrible. I did not know this was going on. I wish people would understand that you don't have to be drunk or act like a fool to have a good time.

Really sad to hear.....:(

They have less problems (I'm guessing), as there aren't people trying to scare you on a normal basis.

When I went with some co-workers, most of us in our late 20's, we were carded EVERY time we bought a drink, so it's not like they're not checking. There's gotta be another way they must be getting them...

And we did see some crazy drunks in line for Spiderman, but they weren't teenagers

I'll be at HHN this Thursday (23rd). I hope there is school for the local kids on Friday, anyone know? I picked that night hoping it would be more adult crowds, even though I'm well aware adults can be drunk and rude also.

I would imagine it would be pretty easy for one person of legal drinking age to buy drinks for the underage friends. No one is checking who is drinking the alcoholic beverages.

There must be people on the look out for such activity but it would be hard to catch them all.

Well, they could possibly cut down on that happening a little by only allowing a legal age drinker to buy ONE drink at a time. Sure they could go back and forth for more drinks or to different vendors- but are there lines? Maybe it would hinder it happening a bit if it was time consuming to keep buying more and more drinks for all the underage drinkers? But maybe not- if there are tons of vendors on those nights- then I guess there wouldn't be lines for drinks and not that much of a bother?

This thread & another one I just read about the drinking- has me a little worried about my solo trip coming up. I've already bought annual pass, HHN tickets, and HHN express tickets for one of those nights... I'm going to be all alone 5'2 112lbs female with a park full of crazy (& possibly violent??) drunkards- at night.. with lots of scaring going on? Now I'm worried- if someone tried to hurt me or harrass me/etc- would anyone hear my screams for help??
*eek*

Bibbidy, there's lots of security, plus plenty of OPD around, so if you're having problems, tell them. They're all over the place, so dont worry.

I have been twice. The first time, I didn't see anyone drunk or any bad behavior. Last week, Orlando school were out on both Thursday and Friday. The park was flooded with teens Th, F, and Sat., many who were drunk. I went the week before on a Sunday and saw none of that behavior.

>>Well, they could possibly cut down on that happening a little

There already is a strict 1 drink per ID rule at all the bars at HHN.

Thanks for the reassurances.

Chainsawwolf- but on these nights there aren't just bars- are there? I've read references on several threads to alcohol being sold pretty much every few feet by vendors- do they ALL ID and do the 1 drink rule?
