HHI with 7 month window

What weeks/months are possible (and NOT) booking at the 7 month window? I'd be looking at summer 2005 June 26 on. I have 125 banked points to use by Aug 31, 2005. Can do Sun-Thurs in a 1 BR, but would they be possible to get? Can go longer in a studio- would this be easier/possible to book? Thanks for any info you have!!

I'd like more info on this too....but from what I've heard, summers are next to impossible to get at HH at 7mo. I really would like to hear others' experiences and know when the 7 mo window is a viable option, besides the dead of winter.

We had no problem booking Feb with 2 weeks notice...it was COLD!

June thru August is a busy time at HH. There are a total of 21 Studios and 21 1BR villas at the resort- and they are usually the first to be reserved.

Many have reported success here reserving at HH within 7 months, so it is possible. You will have to be flexible with your dates and would likely have better success getting a 2BR villa (there are 76 of those). Expect to need the waitlist during that time period. Except for weekends, the resort tends to be at full accupancy most of the summer.

Just wondering, does anyone know if HH's summer is mid-June to Labor Day or if it starts in late May? Kind of wondering about the Memorial Day area of time. Anyone have any experience with this time period?

At HH, Premier Season is from June 11 thru August 27.

Memorial Day and Labor Day are both in Dream Season and will be a little easier to get reservations.

In general summer at HH is almost impossible, especially for other than a 2 BR. If you want it call day by day when MS opens and wait list day by day. You may also want to consider a trade to some of the top Marriott's on HH at 270 points. Mid to late August and the first half of June is far easier than the rest of the time. Some have been successful but overall I think one shouldn't count on this option plus it will get worse as the membership grows in numbers.

It is very difficult to get HHI at 7 months for June July or August. If you are flexible with your dates and are looking for a 2 bedroom, you may be successful. We did get 2 bedroom in July 2002 but only because we were flexible and it was the third try with dates that made us successful. Sunday-thurs are harder because they are the cheaper day-Fri/Sat are double the other days. You can also pay cash with member discount if you find trouble. It is an amazing resort! We bought add-on in fall 2002 after we had trouble getting reservations for the summer just to get 11 month points! Hope you get what you need!

I was talking to one of the CMs in recreation and was told that the resort is pretty quiet in May,up until Memorial Day weekend. I think that since most schools in the South get out by Memorial Day, that's when it starts to get busy; but it's probably easier to book at 7 months than it would be starting in mid-June, when everyone else is out of school too.

we didnt have any trouble booking 7 mos out for this summer. Got it on the very first try(booked day by day). Though I do reccommend that you br flexable until you actually book. try for the first week youre available. cant get it try for the next....and so on.

If you can go in Sep. you should have luck. I have been able to get a studio or a 1bd at 1-3 months out. And they have cash rates with discounts that are open.

Sometimes when point reservation is not available, cash reservation is. I called MS on Friday and was able to get the last room for cash rate for a 2-br for $245 plus tax (rack rate!!!, no member discount). It is supposed to be the last room for the time (end of August) in the entire resort. I thought $245 is a GREAT rate for a 2-br unit. The CM was surprised too.

Switching gears a bit- what is the possibility of the 3ed week in April for any type of room?

Someone mentioned the schools getting out in late May in the south....and they also go back in early to mid August. So August may be a better time to try....especially the end of August.

Of course, I guess you just never know until you try....I've gotten difficult to get reservations on short notice before, just never tried it at HHI.

We have been able to book a 2BR at HHI for August at the 7 mo window twice now. I don't think that you can go much beyond that though because I tried to change my dates for this year about a month later and everything was booked.

I own at HHI, and I got lucky (maybe!). I called Dec 27th of 2003
for July 25-31 for a studio. That is just inside the 7 month window. So, you can do it if planning is good. We are paying cash for a 1BR for Fri/Sat night for an entire week, so it worked out good. Also got the 25%discount for Fri/Sat nite.

April is usually pretty busy at HH, too. But it IS do-able. The most difficult times to book are around Easter (either the week leading to, or following) and the Heritage Golf tournament.

Next April the golf tournament will be ending the week before I'd be travelling, and Easter is in March. Thanks for all the great responses and advice. I think I'll start off trying for April, then look into end of June and into the summer (most likely travelling mid Aug to Sept). My kids have camps they like to return to every year. Being in Vermont, we never know when the last day of school is until April- snow days get added to the end of the year (and I'm sure this will be a snow year if I try to book a vacation ).
