We're looking at going to HHI next summer, and I'd like to start looking at flight prices. Which airport do you fly into? I'll be flying out of DTW. And we will be renting a car.

We haven't flown there, but when we were there this past April, others said they flew into Savannah.

Heading to HHI August 17th.

We'll be flying out of DTW as well. I looked at various combinations of airports (Charleston, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Savannah).

Taking into account price, flight times, and proximity flying into Savannah on NWA was the best option this trip.

We'll also be renting a car from the Savannah airport.

Hope that helps somewhat.

I'm from Ct. and we flew to Charleston SC. Tickets were dirt cheap and it was a nice 2 hr. drive from here to the resort.

Yes,check all the above airports. Somewhere I heard that Charleston was very expensive to fly into, but for us it was less than Savannah. On the other hand, I heard that Jacksonville would be much less costly, but not for us.

We went to HHI just this past April. Airfare and car rental were cheapest flying into Savannah. Not a long drive up I95 and it was easy. Used a coupon code from Walmart for booking the car rental, got a jeep for under $180.00 for 5 days. You'll need a vehicle in HHI if you want to leave the resort. No too much is in walking distance.

We have always flown into Savannah and had the easy drive up to Hilton Head.

We fly PIT to ATL for reasonable fares with AirTran, then drive to HHI.

I check all of the above mentioned airports too.

I am thinking about using MCO in the future. The drive will be fairly long, but I will be able to get my Owner's Locker at the airport. Also airfares might be better.

So when you guys compare flight prices from different airports, do you factor in the cost of gas to drive from the airport to Hilton Head? the cost of gas to drive from ATL or MCO would be greater than driving from Charleston, so it seems that would eat up a portion of the savings on airfare.
