Been planning a Hilton Head/WDW trip for next summer. But now thiking about Vero/WDW instead based on convenience and cost. Never been to HHI or Vero. Let me hear your opinons. We are a family of four. The kids will be almost 5 and 13 1/2 at that time. And we are a beach loving family.

Thanks for your help.

If you love the beach, you will love Vero. Every room or villa at the resort is just a very brief walk to the beach or the pool. The beach is not huge but it is also not crowded, you could walk 100 yards from the beach access in either direction and have the beach to yourself. We went to Vero for a change of pace from several years in a row of WDW visits and we are going to Vero again this year.

I can't tell you about HHI because I've never been. We've tried a couple of times but couldn't get a room. Once was short notice for spring and once was right at the seven month mark for early August. Waitlisted for August and it never came through.

We've never been to HHI, but my Dh and I  VB! In May, we finished off our WDW trip with a couple of days at VB. We loved it so much that we added an extra day. We also cancelled our March 2010 WDW trip and rebooked another WDW/VB trip for May 2010. I'm counting down the days! :cool1:

If you don't own at HHI it is very hard if not impossible to get to stay there in the summer, whereas, I just was able to book 2 ocean view inn rooms at VB for the very end of June at the 7 month mark which was last Friday.

I really enjoyed staying at both resorts, and for your first stay I would just pick the one I could get into. If both, well, since HHI is harder, I would pick that one.

HHI, while not on the beach, has a beach house with a nicer sand beach than VB. By nicer, I mean, a gentle slope and hard pack sand, so it was easier for me to walk on, in fact, you can ride your bike on HHI beach, not possible at VB. There's a luncheonette and a pool right at the beach house, so I really don't think you miss anything to do with swimming at HHI.

It's just more convenient for us to be at VB, and I do like being right on the ocean, not that I swim in it, but I love to watch the waves. We own there and have our second all famly stay coming up in June. We have a Beach Cottage and those inn rooms that I just booked. It's much closer to WDW than HHI is, and that's really the main reason that I prefer VB to HHI.

Thanks You all for the very nice suggestions and comments. They both sound wonderful. I'm leaning towards VB just because of its proximity to WDW. Thanks again!!

I love when I find the question I was going to ask already here! :goodvibes
Thanks for the info!

HH by far is better. I have stayed at both. While VB is a very nice resort, there is little else to do in the immediate area. HHI is a beautiful island. Really Disney's resort is a resort inside a resort. There is so much to do on HHI that is so close. Beautiful beaches, golf, miles of bike trails, marsh walks, fine dining, shops in an upscale community. The dolphins in Broad Creek are are amazing! If you and your family love the beach and nature you really can't go wrong with HHI!

Never been to Vero but own at HHI, but why choose one or the other? Stay at both.

We had a wedding in Orlando that just happend to fall on the weekend prior to our HHI stay last year and the drive wasn't bad at all. But yea, I hear it's hard to get reservations in the summer.

Once again, Thanks to everyone. We have decided to try for HHI first and see what happens. Hopefully we will get it. If not, then I will try Vero.

We are a beach loving family. We prefer VB over HHI. When we go on a beach vacation we really just want to relax. We don't want to hop on a shuttle or in the car to get to the beach. Both resorts are beautiful and we will return to both but VB is right on the beach so in my opinion best for a relaxing "beach vacation." That said, we did not have any problems getting a 2BR or a studio at HHI for July '09. We did call right at the 7 month mark though.

Thats what we are doing right now, we went to both VB was nice because we did 4 days at WDW and then went to VB for 3 nights in Dec had a great time. Last year we went to HH and loved it there is more to do there but I am finding out now that it is difficult to get in and HH is one of our home resorts. Now I did have to wait because my DH the job he worked for closed so we weren't sure if there was going to be a vacation this year but he did get a job and now I am on a wait list for HH for June we also thought if we didn't get it we would try VB but they are booked for that week too. Good luck with your reservation I'm crossing my fingers for ours but as I read I guess it doesn't look good.
