What is the best (weather-wise) and easiest (7-month window-wise) time(s) of year to book HHI?

We have never been, and don't want to own there, so I'm guessing there are busy times that you must own to go, but what are the better times to go that are less "DVC" busy? but still good weather (we're not going in cold weather.)

From what I know I'd think that October and early May are pretty nice weather-wise and not too popular (no need for the 11 month window).

I initially called at 7 months for a 1 bedroom and got it with no problem. When I realized our vacation points would be short I called at 6 months out to wait-list for a studio. Well, we're 7 days out and we didn't get our wait list.

I have stayed in a one bedroom in HH before and I love it. Its huge compared to WDW 1 bedrooms and as we all know the washer and dryer are priceless.

Just want you to know all room types are not easy to get, even in a slow season. Call at 9:00 AM on the dot to ensure you get what you want.

I have never had a problem getting xmas week reservations at 7 months for 3 bedroom(I can do 11 months always make June July or August ones at 11 months). April school vacation week I also did at 11 months. We currently go for 1-2 days after xmas week and one week in June or July, so not sure of other availability.

We love HHI and added on again last year there!
We are spending July 4th week there this year(4 nights in 2 bedroom).

I'd say Apri, May, Oct and early Nov are the best times with weather and ease of bookings being the most important factors.

We have gone five or six times in early October and the weather has always been very nice when we were there. We also have always had availability at the 7 month or later time. We have had both 1BR and 2BR villas. We've never had a studio - but have never tried to get a studio.

We paid cash to go Halloween weekend 2 years ago, and the weather was fine!
There was a Visa card special on the rate.

You never know, but I would say less than 50%, probably closer to 35%. The period from 4th of July to Labor Day is the busiest for HH, and it is not unusual for it to be booked before the 7month mark during that time.

Before I had kids in school, early to mid October was my favorite time to go the Carolina Beaches. The water is still warm, the weather is usually perfect, and the crowds were low.

I just booked a 1bd this week for Sept 30-Oct 5. (Only 4 months out). MS said I booked the last one. We had to cancel our WDW trip to make this one, so he had another MS person cancel it so he could hold on to the 1bd at HH rather than taking the chance of loosing it.
We went in July last year and booked at the 11m mark.

There are very few 1bds available as compared to 2bd and studios. Dh and I are going alone in Oct and had points to use that we borrowed. Sadly we had to splurge and get a 1bd for the two of us. I'm sure we'll manage.
Looking forward to going during a the low season, and have heard the weather is still great that time of year.

I called this year right at 9:00am on the 7 month mark and got a studio for July30-August 5. Since then we have had to change our dates. We dropped the 30th and tried to add the night of the 5th, we are still on the waitlist and truthfully are not very optimistic but will hold out and see what happens. (We have been on the waitlist for well over a month.)

We tried to get in there 4 different times at 7 months, and finally gave up and bought a contract there.

We really wanted to get in there for 4th of July this year for a week, but no such luck at 7 months.

We won't have that problem next year though!

On top of this, there is also only 21 studios at the entire resort. There are 21 lock-off two bedrooms which amounts to a maximum of 21 studios and 21 1BR's. This is why we bought our add-on. We would like to do a 1BR every three years (in our WDW off year) and since we are limited to the first week of April or summer for vacation, we wanted to secure the 11-month window.

The off site DVC resorts are more difficult to get in on 7month mark for sure.

I had no problem booking 10 nights for early June at the 7 month window this year.

We just stayed the first wk of May, 1 bedroom. I had no problems at the 7 month window. Weather wise it was great for us, air temps and ocean temps.
Overall great vacation! The "tough" decision of the day pool or beach!
