We found a wonderful pet kennel only a few miles from DVC. DVC recommended it and we've been so pleased. Their website is http://www.evergreenpetlodgehhi.com. We've been able to visit our puppies every day during our vacation. There's a dog park only a few minutes away to make visiting fun and convenient. We'll be using them again when we visit HHI. Our puppies are getting wonderful care and we're enjoying our vacation so much more now that we can visit with them every day. Hope this info helps someone else having trouble leaving their pets behind while they're on vacation!

Thanks for the info. We've wanted to take longer trips to HHI, but have a Maine Coon we didn't want to leave behind. I'll have to look into this.

One lady was there visiting her cats while we were there visiting our puppies. She said they had several cats so they gave her a larger cat suite so all her cats could stay together. She said she was very pleased with the care her cats were receiving.

We've used Evergreen several times, too, and were also pleased. You can give a little sigh of relief when you know your 4-legged kids are well taken care of.

Good info to know! We have a good friend taking care of our little Lily dog...but sometimes we all wish she could come with us as we miss her. That might be fun one year to board her and take her to the park everyday.

We had a great experience too with Evergreen Pet Lodge. Our dog Bonnie spent her vacation with them several years in a row. Sadly, Bonnie has passed away, but the new little guy Patches is looking forward to a visit some year!!!

This is good information - thanks.

Something I've wondered about - do you think it can be more stressful for a dog to be visited during the day, then left at the kennel again? I imagine it depends on the dog.

We have a 7 month old pup who has been boarded once for 2 days and seemed to do okay with it, and we may need to board her for 2 or 3 days in December (for a WDW trip, although we have also been considering HHI).

We have also used Evergreen Pet Lodge. The service and facilities were great and our dog had a great experience there. FYI, they give you a small discount if you mention that you are staying at the Disney resort.

This is good information - thanks.

I think it depends on the dog. Some do great with boarding, some don't. Our dog is very, very family-centered and has a hard time with boarding. It seems to help him if the facility offers activities and if we can go visit him so we take him with us whenever we can and find kennels that offer playgroups/activities.

For those that are interested, Barkingham Palace is another great facility. It is in Rockledge, FL and we use them when cruising or visiting Vero Beach. At WDW we use Best Friends on property but they are very expensive. I would love to find a conveniently-located, off-property kennel that is as good as Evergreen or Barkingham.

Thanks for sharing! Looks and sounds like a great place!!
