Out of curiosity, have you had this problem before in a 1BR? Are they new dryers? I ask because I didn't think they'd actually changed the general footprint of the rooms other than to accommodate the Murphy beds and such.

We've always stayed in 1 Bedrooms, including this past November, when we stayed in an "old" one. I usually do at least 2 loads while there. Never had that problem with the dryer door that kristenrice described. And I hope we don't-I'll be on the lookout for it!

Heritage Week on HHI!
We scored a surprise visit this weekend...maybe we should go find the new RBC Heritage gnome!
(I work the Masters, so I got their gnome.)

You worked the Masters? That makes you officially DH's hero. Just curious, what did you do there? For the Heritage, they have a practice get-together for all the volunteers. Do they do that for the Masters?

We returned to the resort this evening after a wonderful trip to Beaufort to do one of the Golf Cart Tours. Tom mentioned to the desk that we have not been here any afternoon to enjoy their cookies. Five minutes ago, a CM brought these!

I wanted to mention something that I noticed in our 1BR that I *think* is going to be a problem...
I do not know if it is part of the refurb or not, but when we did laundry, the door to the dryer only opens about 3" before it is stopped by the wall of the closet! I shimmied the dryer as much as I could to get it "adjusted" but I could never open the dryer door more than halfway because it would hit the side wall of the closet. I foresee many dryer doors getting bent and/or broken in the not-too-distant future. I completely forgot to say something to the staff while we were there because I knew that it is not something that is a "quick fix". I can't believe that it passed an inspection, though! I mean, really? You cannot even open the dryer more than a few inches!

I am a driver for a private course that week, but Masters does have Volunteer Day.
I am a public high school AP that our spring break lines up with Masters week on purpose.
I am not sure about Heritage. We are going though!

I can tell from that picture that that's a different make of dryer than we had in #1225 last fall, if not all previous times. The previous dryer was a Whirlpool-I know that because Whirlpool is virtually the only brand that has the hamper door, where the door swings down from the top and becomes like a "shelf" (I think Maytag might have hamper doors also). Since the hamper door is a very important feature to me, I remember that we had it. Also, the dials and knobs were up top, not located where these are. The hamper door was OK if the closet bifold door was open all the way. Frankly, though, I can't see any problem with the door on this style. I was mostly addressing the issue of "footprint"-different brand may give slightly different footprint.

Unfortunately, my new Whirlpool dryer does not have the hamper door. I agree with you. It is an important feature, and I miss it!

Well, we are on our way home, in NC now. Not sure when we’ll be back, and I’m trying to organize a gals trip, too!

We did enjoy the golf cart tour of Beaufort! It’s a beautiful town. Was captured by the North early in the War and so, it was never burned. Many homes that were built in the 17-1800’s still stand. Many were turned into hospitals during the War, some into schools for the slaves left behind when the owners left them. We ate lunch at Fish Camp on 11th on our way to Beaufort, and we would eat there again.


We saw Many dolphins from our excellent booth in the restaurant!

For those that go more often than we do, I envy you….its just a great resort!

Well, as an owner who needs a walk in or roll in shower I am very disappointed that HHI now only has HA studios with a tub. They are not sure they have a transfer chair, but we are driving next March, and I will bring one. Very disappointed! Mostly I book HA 1/bedrooms and they have a shower stall, but sometimes we are just staying a night or two on the way to FL, and a studio is OK for those stays.

That really surprises and confuses me. A big portion of your guests booking HA villas are in a wheelchair, and it seems to me that they would require a walk in/roll in shower. Guests who book HA villas who can use a tub can also can use a roll in shower, but it's not necessarily true the other way, that is not all guests who book HA villas who hope for a roll in shower can manage if it has a tub. Thus, I really don't understand their decision to do things as they did.

@Simba's Mom, there was still a problem in booking a HA studio. There were none showing available for any day at 9, 10, 11 months out. So, I did what I was told by more than one CM at HHI. I booked a studio and called the resort to tell them I needed HA. That’s when the CM there told me they did have HA studios with a tub, no longer any with a roll in shower. I told her I could not see any HA studios available, never mind the configuration. She told me to call DVC, because they could see the HA rooms are available, she could not change my reservation.

Sure enough the DVC CM changed our reservation to HA.

The very first time I was at DHHIR, it was a cash reservation and we had a studio with a roll in shower. I know I will express displeasure with this change at DVC.

New Years Eve has activities on HHI.
The day after New Years is normally when DHHIR takes down the Christmas decorations.
We have visited DHHIR on both days and enjoyed our stay.

Yes! We spent this past New Year's Eve at Disney's Hilton Head.

I can't speak to what local activities the island might offer, but Disney has a Noon Year's Eve bash. They hand out cardboard NYE hats, beaded necklaces, and noisemakers to everyone. Just before noon, everyone gathers at the pool to countdown the dropping of a large beach ball from a pole. Pluto came out (wearing winter gear) and took pictures and started a conga line with guests.

At 4:30pm, they had cocoa and s'mores at the campfire pit. It was rainy and cold all day, so we took our hot chocolate and s'mores kit to-go.

At 5:00pm, they had a paid 'Sparkling Hour' for adults. We did not attend, but for $30 per person, it's basically wine, snacks, games. This is the resort's last planned activity for the night.

At midnight, we could hear fireworks and cheers from the marina area. The resort stayed mostly quiet, although we briefly went outside to make some noise!

Yes, we were there for New Year's Eve in 2022, staying overnight into New Year's Day 2023. The resort is a little quieter, but they still have events going on!

I went back and quoted some posts from around that timeframe. See above for activities during the last and first weeks of the year.

I have a question. The public website for cash reservations is showing discrepancies in price.

Rooms for the last week of the year were just released, but they do not match the previously disclosed prices that have been available in the Rate Calendar. For example, the price for a deluxe studio from 12/30-12/31 is now listed as $388 plus 10% tax for a total of $426. However, when you click on Rate Details --> View Rate Calendar --> Scroll to December 30th, the price was supposed to be $353 plus 10% tax for a total of $388 (so the new base rate of $388 is what the previous total amount should have been). This discrepancy only seems to apply to studios.

From my experience, once the Rate Calendar is released for certain dates, prices don't change. Does anyone know if they actually raised prices on studios 10% or are they accidentally including the tax in the website price and then adding tax on top of that?
