My last trip to HHI was in 2006 and the weather was amazing. This year the extended forcast is showing quite a bit of rain for next week. Can anyone suggest some rainy weather activities for a 30 something mom, a nearly 4 year old boy and 60 something grandparents?
Most all of our planned activities are outdoor ones-- Golfing, dolphin tour, Daufuskie Island, fishing etc. I would greatly appreciate some help with "plan b".

Some of our favorite rainy day activities are movies and eating out. A nice little movie theater is only 3 or 4 miles from the resort and shows current runs. There are a dozen restaurants within a mile of the resort.

If you are looking for less expensive or free activities the resort's community hall offers board games, etc and I believe they loan out DVDs too.

The resort has many activities indoors (at Community Hall and Big Murgie's Den) for little ones and families-crafts, ghost tales, nature talks, etc. They also have a pool table and checkers board in Big Murgie's Den. And I remember talking to a Dolphin Cruise boat guy (I think it was Scott) who told me that sometimes he still goes out in the rain-families will call him up desperate to get out, they don't even care if they see anything-they just want to get out! As far as golfing-there ARE golf umbrellas and gortex wear. Rain's never stopped DH from golfing at HHI, just frost.

If the forecast is for "scattered rain" then you may avoid the wet all together.
Heck, it may rain on the south end but not the north.
We just had one of those rain while the sun is out moments and once those start then it most likely will remain that way until the Fall months. Of course predicting the weather is impossible but the wind patterns keep a lot of the rain west of us. No promises though.
Now on to what you can do if it does rain.
Bowling or The Island Playground is great for a 4yr old. Sea Turtle Cinema in Bluffton or the Outlet Mall are also popular. You can still enjoy lunch or dinner at San Miguels or Capt Woodys as they have covered outdoor eating areas.
During the hotter months we have a chance of rain everyday due to the humidity. Don't sweat it! ;)
Have fun.
