HHI in Nov?

DH and I have just booked for 11/6 - 11/10 [wl'd for 11/5]...wondering if others here have stayed at HHI around that time and what it was like...we are not sports oriented but do enjoy touring, good restaurants and just chillin' out.

I hope to get DH to drive to Savannah one day...and will put up with his seeking out a lighthouse and some civil war sites.

Can anyone tell us what the island is like at that time of the year?

We've been to HH during Thanksgiving week and in December and it's really quiet. I love it that way. My sister says it's too dead during the "off season" for her but for me and DH it's just right. Our anniversary falls during thanksgiving week so we've been down there a couple of times during November and some days it seems like we have the resort (and the island) all to ourselves. Your experience early to mid-November might be the same.

I know there are lots of activities at the resort and on the island during the summer but I prefer the laid back feeling of November and December so if you're looking for some relaxation, a bit of shopping and great restaurants, then you'll have a wonderful time!

I noticed you are going in December 06 as well. We are staying in Grand Villa from 12/2-12/9! So you won't have the island COMPLETELY to yourself
It will be our first trip there ever so I am pretty excited. Hope to see you around! I'll just look for the skinny one!

The first time I went was during that time of year. Things are slow but if you like to do things like golf or shop that makes for some deals and easy seating. The one downside was that it was unseasonably cool so we didn't use the pool. The ocean pool area was actually warmer than the one in the resort because of the sun exposure. Key word is unseasonably...early Nov should have still been warm enough to swim in a heated pool.

The next year we went in late September...still hurricane season but there were also things going on on the island...still not crowded.

pjad - first thanks for the compliment on my weight loss. I hung out on the WISH board a lot and those guys really helped me while I was losing the weight. Maintenance is proving to be much harder than losing the weight, never thought I'd be saying that. I'm up a few pounds since vacation (darn that Disney dining plan!) but I just came back from a killer kickboxing class and feel like my slacks are a little looser already! Anyway, our trip in December might not happen. We had such a wonderful time at SSR that we're thinking of skipping HHI and going back to SSR instead. We'll see. Enjoy your trip!!!!
