HHI Details Needed, Please

Hi all,

My DH and I are headed to HHI next week (21 JAN) for a week. First time there. What are the must see/must do things you recommend?

What restaurants are worth a visit? (or perhaps should be stayed away from?)
What sights and/or activities should be checked out?
Where might I find good/fun/unique shopping?
What would I regret missing if I don't get there/do that?

I always suggest that visitors go into Sea Pines. It costs $5 per car, but you can come and go all day. That is where the development of HHIsland began. Visit the shops and lighthouse at Harbour Town and the little village at South Beach. Stables and a Forest Preserve are also back in there.

There are two Tanger outlets in Bluffton shortly before you go over the bridge onto the Island, one of which was recently literally knocked down and rebuilt. Also, Coligny is a fun, quirky, touristy place near the public beach. And there are a few fun shops right across the marina from the Disney resort.

Restaurants are subjective, but we like Red Fish, Hudsons, Capt. Woody's, British Open Pub, CQs, Alexanders, and one of my favorite anywhere - Old Fort Pub. You can check out their websites for location and menus. We also like the Mellow Mushroom for pizza and casual sandwiches.

If you have time, I would consider a day trip to Savannah. It only takes about 45 minutes to get there, and it's a very unique and fun place. Beaufort, SC is also fun - smaller, but with a lot of history. It's the home of author Pat Conroy, and the site of many movies.
